Getting into Brackenhide Hollow
Brackenhide Hollow is a dungeon designed for leveling purposes situated in the recently added region of The Azure Span, which can be found in the Dragon Isles. The dungeon is conveniently located near the Iskaara, Azure Span flight point, which can be accessed by both Horde and Alliance players.
In this guide, we will provide a comprehensive overview of Brackenhide Hollow dungeon, which includes important information to successfully complete it in all difficulties – Normal, Heroic, and Mythic. We will discuss all four boss fights and the notable trash mobs in the dungeon along with their crucial abilities. Overview of Dragonflight Dungeons Dragonflight Mythic+ Season 1
Brackenhide Hollow Layout
Unlock Unique Bonuses in Brackenhide Hollow
There are several Decaying Cauldrons scattered throughout Brackenhide Hollow. To activate them, at least one party member must have a Dragon Isles Alchemy skill of 25 or higher. Once activated, the cauldron will provide one of several beneficial effects to your party, such as increased damage, healing, or movement speed. However, be careful as some of the cauldrons may also have negative effects, such as reducing healing received or causing party members to be afflicted with a debuff. Make sure to communicate with your party and coordinate when to use the cauldrons to maximize their benefits and avoid any potential drawbacks.
- Once you activate the Decaying Cauldron, you and each of your party members can collect their
Cleansed Rot brew that can be used to clear one 
Disease of your choice (using the extra action button to trigger it). - Upon consumption, the Cleansed Rot will disappear and the only way to get it again is if you get back to the Decaying Cauldron and collect it.
- Luckily, there are several locations where you can obtain the brew, spread across the entire map of Brackenhide Hollow!
Lost Kanniak and Hackclaw’s War-Band
Notable Trash Before Hackclaw’s War-Band
It’s important to note that an extensive event must be completed before summoning the first boss, Hackclaw’s War-Band. The event involves freeing 5 Tuskarr that are located in cages in the Meat Storage area of the Lost Kanniak. The cages can be opened in any order, allowing you to design your own path. However, be aware that each cage is surrounded by packs of angry gnolls. Here are some details on these trash enemies and their abilities:
- Claw Fighter is one of the “tank-buster” mobs in this dungeon, with its dangerous
Bloody Bite cast not only inflicting initial damage but also applying a stacking 
Bleed effect. Occasionally they also fixate random players with 
Vicious Clawmangle. Kite the enemy away or use combat-reset abilities to cancel the cast (such as a Rogue’s 
Vanish, for example). - Bonecrusher is a similar trash mob; it will cast Bloody Bite and
Crushing Smash on your tank, slowing their movement speed by 30% for 12 sec. - ViciousHyena will reduce your tank’s healing intake with its
Infected Bite cast. This in combination with the rest of the “tank-buster” mobs will make them difficult to heal, so watch out! - Bonebolt Hunter will be one of the higher-priority targets not only because of its unavoidable
Shoot damage on random targets, but also because of its 
Bone Bolt, dealing high initial damage to a random player and leaving a tough Bleed effect afterwards. Avoid triggering its 
Toxic Trap at all cost. - TrickclawMystic is one of the static mobs of this dungeon. Interrupt its
Earth Bolt so it can come closer to you. The mob itself is not dangerous, but it will significantly increase its difficulty if it unlocks its unique 
Witherbolt ability, usable there is a 
Rotchanting Totem nearby. Focus the totem quickly to prevent it from empowering the Mystic. - Speaking about Rotchanting Totem, Decay Speaker is the only one who spawns it. This is the highest-priority target in the dungeon as not only can they empower nearby TrickclawMystics with their totem, but will also have a single-target high damage
Decay Surge spell and a 
Withering Burst Disease effect. The Withering Disease effect will stack and it will make this dungeon a hell of a journey, so focus it immediately. - Speaking about high-alert mobs, I would advise to not pull Bracken Warscourge with a large quantity of mobs due to its
Pack Tactics aura affecting every other mob. Interrupt 
Hideous Cackle at all cost, as the AoE fear effect will send you shrieking in fear for 7 seconds, which is likely to result in a wipe. In addition, step out of their 
Ragestorm and do not ever stay in it.
Hackclaw’s War-Band Boss Guide
During the Hackclaw’s War-Band boss fight, you will face the three main gnolls, Rira Hackclaw, Gashtooth, and Tricktotem. Each of them has distinct abilities that players need to be aware of. Here is a more in-depth explanation of the fight:
All Roles
- Avoid being hit by Rira Hackclaw‘s
Bladestorm; she will be slowed by 70% during the cast, which will make dodging much easier. - Interrupt
Greater Healing Rapids at all cost to prevent the bosses from healing. - Any spare interrupts should go towards Earth Bolt casts.
- Beware of
Bloodfrenzy; if one of the gnolls drops below 15% health, this will automatically trigger. You want to cleave them equally until they are all at 15% HP to prevent increasing the difficulty of the fight. - Quickly nuke the
Hextrick Totem to prevent your teammates from being 
Hextricked.
Tank
- Be careful of how you position Rira Hackclaw, since her auto attacks
Cleave all players in front of her within an 8-yard cone. - Periodically, Rira Hackclaw will charge a random member of your party with
Savage Charge. It is your responsibility to stay in front of the charge and soak the damage incoming damage, or else they will die. Unless your party member specifically instructs you not do it because they have an immunity available, you should pay attention to this cast at all costs!
Healer
- Gashtooth will occasionally cast
Gash Frenzy, shadowstepping behind every player and applying a Bleed effect for 45 sec, which you can remove if you heal your teammates above 90% health! - On Mythic difficulty, Gashtooth will additionally cast
Marked for Butchery on one player; use your external defensive cooldowns on them and spot-heal! - Dispel Gashtooth‘s
Decayed Senses as quickly as you can to prevent your team member from being crowd-controlled for 15 sec. - >On Mythic difficulty, during the entire boss fight there will be a
Prey on the Weak aura that will empower each boss with the 
Predatory Instincts stackable buff based on their missing health. It is your duty to keep everyone above 90% health at all times!
Gutshot Overlook and Gutshot
Notable Trash Before Gutshot
After defeating Hackclaw’s War-Band, you can choose to go left towards Gutshot or right towards Treemouth. It is recommended to go towards the left side as it is slightly more time-efficient. Along the way, there are a few things to be aware of, such as the trash enemies and their abilities.
- Fleshripper Vulture is the first trash mob you will be facing. The only ability to watch out for is
Screech; interrupt it as soon as it casts it. - Gutchewer Bear has slightly more health, with the only important ability being
Maul - Rotbow Stalker is going to be the hardest mob in this area for several reasons. First they will have Pack Tactics aura buff that will empower all the enemies around them, followed by its Shoot and Bone Bolt abilities that can go on a random target from your party. Avoid their Bone Bolt Volley frontal damage (it has a 40-yard range so you have to side-step it rather than out-range it). Finally, this mob will empower nearby Fleshripper Vultures and ViciousHyenas with
Scented Meat to chase one random member of your party. Help your teammates with stuns, slows, and other disruption effects to prevent them from facing certain death.
After you pass the first “room,” you’ll encounter more terrain that seems to only have the familiar Bracken Warscourge. However, it is a trap! There will be six stealthed Gutstabbers that will use Bloody Bite on your tank and Withering Poison on a random target.
Gutshot Boss Guide
At the start of the boss fight against Gutshot, you will encounter two Rotfang Hyenas that will only attack the tank until Gutshot casts Meat Toss. It is important to defeat them quickly before Gutshot calls two more hyenas using Call Hyenas. Gutshot also has an aura called Huntleader’s Tactics that empowers the Rotfang Hyenas, making it even more critical to focus on them first. All Roles
- Focus on any existing Rotfang Hyena and kill them immediately, since they will attack the target debuffed by
Meat Toss. - Speaking about Meat Toss, it will be cast on a random target making them Smell Like Meat. Kite away from the Hyenas and never let them catch you. On Mythic difficulty, the Rotfang Hyenas will gain the
Feeding Frenzy 
Enrage effect and upon inflicting damage will also apply a Bleed effect from their 
Crippling Bite ability. - You should watch out for their
Bounding Leap ground animation; it does massive damage and stuns you if you get caught in it! - Dodge the
Ensnaring Trap on the ground. Note that you can kite the existing Rotfang Hyenas into them! On Mythic difficulty, upon the trap being triggered for the first time, it will rearm itself after 5.2 seconds! - Gutshot will periodically cast
Master’s Call, freeing any Rotfang Hyenas from Ensnaring Trap and giving them 15% movement speed for 5 sec. Once you see the boss casting it get away from any hyenas!
Tank
- Kite the Rotfang Hyena into the Ensnaring Traps if they do are not chasing anyone with a Smell Like Meat debuff on them.
- Beware of the
Gut Shot ability. It deals high damage and knocks you back, so be careful to not be caught in one of the Ensnaring Traps on the ground!
Healer
- Focus on healing your teammates if they get caught by one of the Rotfang Hyenas; do your best to keep them away from your party!
Once you defeat Gutshot, this will be your new spawn point if you end up dying!
The Rotwood and Treemouth
Notable Trash Before Treemouth
As you move towards Treemouth, there are not many new non-boss enemies to encounter, and the path is relatively short if you followed the recommended route and went left after defeating Gutshot. However, if you chose to go through the river on the right side after defeating Hackclaw’s War-Band, you will come across some unique non-boss enemies. For the purpose of this guide, we will focus on the recommended route.
In this area, you will encounter a new enemy called Stinkbreath, who is considered a “mini-boss” due to having significantly more health than the average mob. Stinkbreath has several abilities that you should be aware of, including:
1. Rancid Belch: A frontal cone attack that deals heavy damage and reduces the target’s chance to hit. 2. Foul Gas: A large AoE that deals moderate damage and reduces the target’s healing received. 3. Toxic Spray: A cone attack that deals moderate damage and applies a debuff that increases damage taken from Poison effects. 4. Stench: A passive aura that reduces the chance to hit of all nearby enemies.
Be sure to interrupt Stinkbreath’s abilities whenever possible and focus on healing through the debuffs applied by his attacks.
Violent Whirlwind will deal Physical damage to all enemies within 7 yards and knock them back; get away from it immediately!- He will occasionally cast Stinkbreath; if you are caught in the frontal ability, you will become Disoriented for 4 seconds so watch out!
Treemouth Boss Guide
During the fight with Treemouth, you should be aware that the boss will regenerate energy over time, and when its energy reaches 100, it will cast Grasping Vines, pulling all players towards it for a duration of 4 seconds. Additionally, the boss has several other abilities to watch out for, such as Slamming Roots that deals damage and knocks players back, and Sporulated Bulbs that spawns explosive mushrooms that deal damage to players if they are stepped on. Finally, the boss has a passive ability called Verdant Armor that provides it with a damage-reducing shield that absorbs incoming attacks.
All Roles
- Dodge the
Decay Spray frontal ability. - Immediately after Decay Spray, Treemouth will spawn 4 Decaying Slimes that will cast
Gushing Ooze; use your interrupts to stop them! - Upon defeating Decaying Slime they will cast
Burst, dealing damage to any players within 5 yards and leaving a pool of decay on the ground for 30 seconds. Standing in the pool will damage you due to Withering Away!, so you better watch out! - Once Treemouth begins its
Grasping Vines it will 
Consume the first player to be dragged in before the end of the cast, dealing damage and creating an absorb shield. Once you break the shield, the player that was consumed will be spat out and continue the fight. Even if you are being Consumed, you can still use your abilities!
On Mythic difficulty, Grasping Vines works a bit differently:
- All players within 10 yards of Treemouth will get Consumed at the end of the Grasping Vines cast. If no players are within 10 yards, then the boss does not Consume anyone and instead gets permanently Enraged through
Starving Frenzy. Because of this, you have to deliberately let the most durable member of your team be Consumed. - One more detail is that you cannot let the same person be Consumed twice in a row due to the
Partially Digested debuff, so you will want to alternate players!
Tank
Vine Whip is a frontal ability that will follow your direction until the end of the cast. Be careful how you aim it, you do not want to endanger the life of your teammates!
Healer
- Spot-heal the player that is being Consumed!
Den of Decay and Decatriarch Wratheye
Notable Trash Before Decatriarch Wratheye
After defeating Treemouth, head to the right and follow the path leading to the Den of Decay. Along the way, you will encounter several trash mobs that you need to be cautious of. These include Bracken Warscourge, Thornblade Ravager, and Bilebelcher. Each of these mobs has unique abilities that you need to be aware of to successfully navigate the trash leading to Decatriarch Wratheye. Keep in mind that some of these mobs have the ability to call for reinforcements, so be prepared for additional enemies to join the fight.
- Filth Caller is going to be the first trash mob you have to deal with. Interrupt its Decay Surge cast and beware of
Rotting Surge toxins on the ground. - Pay attention to Disease Slasher‘s
Decay Claws and Bloody Bite, as it will endanger the life of your tank! - Fetid Rotsinger is going to be one of the hardest enemies in this area. They will have the Pack Tactics aura and an important cast to interrupt called
Burst of Decay. However, as soon as it casts Summon Totem, swap to the totem and nuke it immediately to prevent your group from taking the Withering Disease effect. - Vile Rothexer is another caster that spreads Disease effects. Maintain at least 5 yards of distance between each other to prevent
Withering Contagion from spreading and do your best to prevent them from empowering with 
Siphon Decay by standing further than 30 yards away before they finish their cast. - Wither Biter will also be included in every pack. Even though they are non-elite mobs, they can apply Bloody Bite to your tank!
Decatriarch Wratheye Boss Guide
Decatriarch Wratheye Abilities
- Decay Aura: Inflicts Nature damage to all nearby enemies every 2 seconds.
- Rotting Ground: Decatriarch Wratheye will occasionally target a random player and summon a pool of decay under them. Standing on the pool deals Nature damage over time and reduces movement speed.
- Withering Blast: Deals Nature damage to all players in front of Decatriarch Wratheye and reduces healing received by 50% for 6 seconds.
- Summon Blight: Decatriarch Wratheye will periodically summon a Blight, an add that must be killed before it reaches Decatriarch Wratheye. If a Blight reaches the boss, she will consume it, restoring a large amount of health and increasing her damage done.
- Decaying Strength: Upon reaching maximum Energy, Decatriarch Wratheye empowers herself, increasing damage done and applying Withered Eruption to all players, dealing Nature damage over time.
Decatriarch Wratheye Strategy
During the fight, the group should spread out to avoid taking unnecessary damage from Decay Aura. Players targeted by Rotting Ground should move out of the pool as quickly as possible to avoid taking damage and slowing down the group.
When Withing Blast is cast, the healer should be ready to use healing cooldowns to counter the reduced healing received debuff.
Summoned Blights should be killed quickly to prevent them from reaching Decatriarch Wratheye. Damage dealers should prioritize the Blights over the boss when they are up.
Finally, when Decatriarch Wratheye reaches maximum Energy, all players should be ready to use defensive cooldowns and quickly move out of the area affected by Withered Eruption.
All Roles
- Avoid being hit by
Choking Rotcloud; it will deal damage and silence you if you stay in the cloud. Getting hit by the cloud will apply a stackable 
Withering Rot damage-over-time effect on you, inflicting damage and reducing your damage done by 5% for 15 sec. - On Mythic difficulty, Withering Rot does not expire until Decatriarch Wratheye absorbs it with
Decaying Strength or the encounter ends. - Swap to the
Rotburst Totem as soon as the boss is about to spawn it. The longer the Rotburst Totem stays alive the more pulsating AoE damage your whole group will take, followed by applying a Withering Rot debuff. - Once the boss casts Decaying Strength, she will apply
Withered Eruption to everyone on your team. The more application of Withering Rot you have, the larger the size of the effect will be, so make sure to spread accordingly!
Tank
- Use active mitigation when the boss applies Decaystrike on you. Be careful, this stacks!
- Move Decatriarch Wratheye close to the Rotburst Totem to allow your party to cleave both targets simultaneously.
Healer
- Heal up the Decaystrike from your tank as quickly as you can.
- Use healing cooldowns once you see Rotburst Totem being spawned. The longer it stays alive the more damage it will deal to your party!
