Guide to the Dragonflight Pre-Patch Event - Primal Storms and Primalist Invasions

Why Should I Participate in the Primal Storms Pre-Patch Event?

There are several reasons to attend Primal Storms, the Dragonflight Pre-Patch event:

  • The event awards ilvl 252 gear, which is a good catch-up for alts who did not actively participate in Shadowlands Seasons 3 and 4. This gear will last around halfway through Dragonflight leveling, with replacement components appearing around level 65 tasks.
  • Some time-limited awards will no longer be available when Dragonflight launches:

When is the Dragonflight Pre-Patch Event?

Primal Storms will be available as part of Phase 2 of the Dragonflight Pre-Patch launch event, which begins on November 15, 2022. View the Original

Phase Two: November 15

  • In-Game Events: Primal Storms: Defend against Primalist attacks with new missions and global events, laying the groundwork for Dragonflight’s debut.

Primalist Invasions

The Primalist Invasions, in which swarms of Primalist mobs assault certain zones, are the major attraction of the pre-patch event.

Badlands during a Primal Water Invasion.

Swarms of Primalist creatures will appear in certain regions shown on the minimap during the event. Every 30 minutes or so, a mini-event erupts, during which an Elemental Lord appears and adjacent creatures get imbued with the invading element, dropping Primeval Essence, the currency for the Dragonflight Pre-Patch event. The boss is protected by a shield, which may be destroyed by killing 100 infused minions in the region. After removing the shield, the boss may be defeated for treasure and additional Primeval Essences!

Primal Storm Event Rewards

The event has plenty of rewards for active and returning players alike:

Against the Elements Feat of Strength

Every previous Pre-Patch event has come with a Feat of Strength, and the Primal Storms are no exception. To get this Feat of Strength, you must fight every Elemental Lord boss in each invasion:

Primeval Essence ilvl 252 Catch-Up Gear

Primeval Essence Ability to purchase Primal Storms-related gear and other stuff from Quartermasters. These tokens can be obtained from a variety of sources, including:

Storm Hunter William (by the Boralus docks in Stormwind) and Storm Huntress Suhrakka (by the Bladefist Bay zeppelin tower in Durotar) are the quartermasters. This gear is item level 252 for level 60 players, which is the same ilvl as non-Fated Normal Sepulcher of the First Ones, so it’s good catch-up gear for new alts.

Cloth Set

Leather Set

Mail Set

Note: Gloves are showing a glitch in the Dressing Room, but they’re currently glitching like that in-game as well.

Plate Set

Bag of Furious Winds Toy

The event quartermasters will sell this toy for 100 Primeval Essence. The device summons a vacuum over your head for 10 seconds, sucking in vermin, and has a 30-minute cooldown.

Unstable Elemental Confluence Heirloom Trinket

This event’s final prize is a new Heirloom trinket! This item has Primary stats as well as a proc that deals Elemental damage to foes. To make this item, collect a rare drop from each Elemental Lord and combine them:
