Hello and welcome to Dragon Racing! These races will put your newly acquired Dragonriding skills to the test. Races can be found in all zones, and finishing them will earn you a Bronze, Silver, or Gold1.1.
We recommend that you obtain all of the Glyphs before you begin Dragon Racing to fully upgrade your talent tree. This will make the races much easier to complete and is required for any advanced race.
We have a dedicated guides for Glyphs and Talents which can be found below.Dragonriding Glyphs and LocationsDragonriding Talents
We also recommend that you disable enemy nameplates (Default Keybind: V) during races, as you will occasionally fly through areas with a high concentration of hostile targets, and having your screen filled with nameplates will make the races unnecessarily difficult.
Finally we need to talk about Thrill of the Skies. This is how most of your Vigor is generated during Dragon Racing. Maintaining the buff is essential for completing races as fast as possible.
Normal races are automatically unlocked, and each zone will have a quest to complete each race. These quests are retroactive, so if you finish the races before picking up the quest, they will be marked as completed in the quests when you pick them up.
You start these quests in the waking shores with The Waking Shores Tour and after completing this quest you will be taken to the next zone.
After completing all four zone quests you will unlock advanced races and a new set of quests for advanced races.
Every Dragon Race has a Bronze Timekeeper at the location. Talk to them to start the race.
To locate other races in the zone, speak with the Bronze Timekeeper Assistant, who will mark your map with the race you choose. Alternatively, each zone’s page has a map that shows the locations of each race.
Normal races will have few obstacles, a lot of wind boosts, and some Vigor nodes.
In advanced races, there are fewer wind boosts, but more Vigor nodes are placed in the races to compensate. Many races include obstacles, and the timers are more difficult to beat.

While participating in a Dragon Race, you will notice checkpoint rings that you must fly through, as well as both positive and negative effects. In the sections that follow, we will go over each of these and what they do:
While in a Dragonrace, you will only see two checkpoint rings at a time. To help you plan turns and ability usage, a Yellow checkpoint ring indicates your next checkpoint, while a faded Blue checkpoint ring indicates the checkpoint after your current one.
There will also be arrows leading you in the direction of these checkpoints. These represent your direct route to the checkpoint and are not indicative of the route you should follow.
Green Vigor orbs will appear throughout races (and more frequently on advanced races). When you fly through them, you gain 1 Vigor.
Small clusters of wind can be seen in standard races (and certain advanced races). Flying through them will provide you with a significant speed boost.
There are two kinds of obstacles; flying into either will have a negative impact on you and, more importantly, your race timer!
Stun Orbs will debuff you with Zapped if you fly into it. Zapped will stun you for 2 seconds and remove all momentum. If you have the Ohn’ahra’s Gusts talent you can Surge Forward through these and not be stunned for 1 second.
Elemental Orbs will debuff you with Flames if you fly into them. Flames will slow you for 2 seconds and remove momentum. If you have the Ohn’ahra’s Gusts talent you can Surge Forward through these and not be slowed for 1 second.
