We’ll go into the new Valor Points currency in Patch 9.0.5 in this guide. In Shadowlands Patch 9.0.5, we’ll go over all of the ways to win Valor Points and how to update your Mythic+ dungeon gear.

Overview of the Valor Currency
Valor Points are a currency that has been reintroduced in Patch 9.0.5 to aid players in their Mythic+ progression. You will upgrade Mythic+ gear from ilvl 184 to ilvl 220 by using Valor.

Caps with Valor Points
The Valor framework has a Maximum Cap that starts at 5,000 during Patch 9.0.5’s first week and increases by 750 per week. This is the highest amount of Valor that a single character can earn over the course of the Season. If you miss a week, don’t worry; you’ll be able to make up for it the next week.

Valor Points in the Shadowlands
Callings and running Mythic+ dungeons are the two ways to gain Valor Points.
Covenant Callings: Valor Points
Covenant Callings will honor players with the latest Valor in Patch 9.0.5. Completing a Rare Calling will reward you with 35 Valor .
In Patch 9.0.5, completing an Epic Calling will reward you with 50 Valor .

Mythic+ Dungeons have Valor Points.
Completing Mythic+ dungeons is another way to win Valor Points.

You will receive 135 Valor for each Mythic+ dungeon you complete, regardless of keystone rank. Low-level Keystones are the quickest way to earn Valor Points.
You’ll need to go to the Valor Point update seller in Oribos if you have a Mythic+ piece from Patch 9.0.5 and some Valor to pay.
Aggressor Zo’dash, the Valor Point improvement provider in Oribos, is the same as in PvP. This NPC can be found in Oribos at 34.55, 56.55, and now serves as a PvP and Mythic+ update seller.

In your Covenant Hall, you can even upgrade your gear! You can also update the equipment by going to the upgrader.

Gear Ranks with Mythic+
Each piece of dungeon gear collected from Mythic+ Dungeons, from Item Level 184 to Item Level 220, will be assigned a Rank from 1 to 12. This rank will be reflected in the item’s tooltip. This involves items from the Great Vault as long as their Object Levels are within the range. When you upgrade a piece of equipment, it gains one level.

Receiving an Item Level 200 piece from your Great Vault, for example, will grant you a Rank 6/12 piece!

Requirements for Success Upgrade Gear Through Your Account
There are four ranks in which achieving a pre-requisite is necessary in order to advance.
Shadowlands Keystone Master: Season One is needed to upgrade an item that is Item Level 213 (Rank 10) or higher.
Shadowlands Keystone Conqueror: Season One is needed to upgrade an item that is Item Level 207 (Rank 8) or higher.
Shadowlands Keystone Explorer: Season One is required to upgrade an object with an Item Level of 200 (Rank 6) or higher.
No achievement is required to upgrade an item that is Item Level 197 (Rank 5) or below.

These accomplishments are account-wide and will give you access to Rank 12. On your Battle.net account, after you’ve finished each dungeon in time at Keystone Level 5, 10, and 15, you’ll get Valor Upgrades on all of your characters.
Upgrading Gear Costs Valor
You’ll also need a certain amount of Valor to raise a piece to the next Rank. Depending on which gear slot you’re updating, the number varies. Weapons are the most costly of the six common Valor prices.
250 Valor -Shield, Offhand, Ring, Cloak, Bracer, and Neck
400 Valor -Trinket, Belt, Shoulders, Gloves, and Boots
475 Valor – Helm, Legs, and Chest
500 Valor – One-Handed Agility Weapon
750 Valor – (One-Handed) Two-Handed Intellect weapon
1000 Valor – Two-Handed
Unknown – Weapon of One-Handed Strength (speculated to be 500 or 750)


Restrictions on Updates – Gear Prior to Patch 9.0.5
Any gear acquired prior to Patch 9.0.5 will not be able to be updated with Valor Points, according to Blizzard. This contains loot earned during the week of March 9th, 2021 from the Great Vault.

Gear obtained from Mythic+ can be upgraded beginning the week of March 9th, and gear obtained from M+ Great Vault rewards can be upgraded starting the week of March 16th.
