The Jailer's Gauntlet Strategy Guide for Torghast

Torghast of the Shadowlands The Jailer’s Gauntlet Test
The Jailer’s Gauntlet is a boss rush, with each Layer floor comprising largely random bosses or uncommon monsters that rush out of the various portals found on each floor. It has eight floors per tier and eight layers with varying degrees of difficulty.

How to Activate the Jailer’s Gauntlet Challenge
Pick up the breadcrumb quest from Ve’nyo, a new broker NPC near Oribos’ middle ring, then utilize the quest item supplied at the designated location on the Torghast hub map to open this new layer.

What Is the Jailer’s Gauntlet Challenge?
This challenge is unaffected by the Box of Many Things benefits. There is no time restriction or score, however Unnatural Power Icon is available. Unnatural Power will continue to accrue in the tougher stages, making monsters more difficult over time if your damage is too low.

Furthermore, if your group wipes, all active foes will restore their full health, but you will also reset all of your cooldowns and debuffs, letting you to go at full strength again.

You may also only perish a few times until The Tarragrue appears and kicks everyone out of the run.

Anima Abilities
You can start with three Anima Powers and get more when you fight foes and bosses, as well as an additional one near the exit of most completed floors. For each floor you ascend, you get 4 Soul Remnant’s Blessing Icon Soul Remnant’s Blessing and 200 Phantasma Icon Phantasma, which may be used at the broker seller before each boss.

We’ve produced a separate guide where you can learn more about all the Anima Powers in Torghast for your class to help you pick what to choose. Furthermore, Torghast is covered in every one of our class manuals.

As you go through the levels and battle the harder strata, the number of monsters and bosses you encounter every floor rises. You’ll start with just a few foes and a single monster, then it’ll be two bosses that you fight separately, then two bosses that you fight simultaneously, and so on until you’re battling numerous bosses, rare mobs, and enemies all at once in the final tiers!

Once you reach this level of difficulty, it is strongly advised to bring a complete party with tank and healer, as the sheer number of enemies and abilities may easily overwhelm a lone player, and a single fear will typically result in death. After Layer 4, the difficulty quickly increases, so be prepared!

Inside the Jailer’s Challenge, there are special floors.
The fourth floor, which takes place inside the Adamant Vaults layout, will always have numerous random uncommon creatures that fight you in pairs instead of bosses. Once destroyed, these rares will shower you with Anima Powers, but you will also be required to deal with a large number of them at once, which is exceedingly hazardous to your health pool. You will also not receive the typical additional Anima Power orb before ascending to the fifth floor.

Level eight is the eighth floor and likewise takes place in the Adamant Vaults, with one of the stronger monsters present on these floors serving as your final challenge to completing the run. As with previous floors, new foes and more Adamant Vaults bosses will teleport in as you are near to beating the first, so eliminate weakened bosses soon!

It’s worth noting that in the harder tiers, Adamant Vaults bosses can appear on the early floors, including floor 1 in Layer 8. These bosses have numerous stages and incredibly lethal area-of-effect mechanics, so keep a watch out for them as they are the most likely to wipe you if you don’t dodge their techniques correctly!

Rewards for the Jailer’s Gauntlet Challenge
When you complete a run, you will get Torghast-specific transmogrification artifacts such as Blackflame Skull Crescent Icon Blackflame Skull Crescent and a scaled quantity of Soul Ash Icon Soul Ash as well as Soul Cinders Icon Soul Cinders. Each run necessitates 8 boss floors, whereas a typical Torghast run necessitates 4 ordinary floors and one monster floor, making it an arguably faster option to harvest old Legendary money and Renown, depending on your class and gear levels.

You can obtain any Runecarver memories you are missing by completing the Jailer’s Challenge, as long as their drop source is a Torghast Cell Block. Aside from that, finishing the first four Jailer’s Challenge tiers earns you four special rewards:

Layer 1: Lightless Tormentor Icon Lightless Tormentor pet; Layer 2: Dominated Hearthstone Icon Dominated Hearthstone toy (cosmetic only, has the same cooldown as standard Hearthstone Icon Hearthstone); Layer 3: Gauntlet Runner title; Layer 4: Sturdy Soulsteel Mawrat Harness Icon Mawrat Harness mount made of strong Soulsteel.

The run itself can be a lot of fun, especially because it feels very different from a standard Torghast run and is much more on battle, managing adversaries, and throughput rather simply going around clicking stuff. On the top floors, things get a little chaotic, and you’ll frequently be fighting numerous monsters at once, including multiple Adamant Vaults bosses before floor 8, but you’ll also have over 100 Anima Powers, making for an exciting encounter!

The completion of Layer 8 of the Jailer’s Challenge is also a prerequisite for the new Tower Ranger Icon Tower Ranger meta accomplishment, which grants the Tower Ranger title.
