Strategy of Attumen the Huntsman in Karazhan, Burning Crusade Classic
Prior to the Pull
The number one priority during the boss fight is to have a Mage and/or Druid assigned to Decurse. As soon as a Decurser enters the raid, assign tank targets to both Midnight and Attumen; this way, neither boss is free to roam and can be kept under control. Unmounted Attumen strikes harder than Midnight and may be disarmed by a Warrior, hence Warriors commonly tank Attumen.
Before attempting to drag the boss, be certain that all neighboring rubbish has been eliminated. If any are still alive, they will follow Midnight’s lead.
Phase 1
Midnight is a Neutral mob that will not attack unless it is assaulted first. Midnight is alone in the first part of this fight until the monster reaches 95 percent health, at which point she summons Attumen.
Before Attumen is summoned, the Warrior tank might create danger on Midnight during Phase 1.
Midnight and Attumen the Huntsman in Phase 2
Midnight enters Phase 2 when he reaches 95% health and summons Attumen. This phase will remain until either Midnight or Attumen reaches 25% health.
When Attumen spawns, healers should take care not to receive healing aggro on Attumen and should allow the tank ample time to gain threat. Mages and Druids must remove the Intangible Presence debuff as soon as possible. To prevent the Shadow Cleave from harming raid members, the tank assigned to Attumen should make sure he is looking away from the raid.
Attumen the Huntsman on Horseback, Phase 3
When either Midnight or Attumen reaches 25% health, Attumen will mount up on Midnight and obtain the Berserker Charge ability. When Mounted Attumen is called, all danger on the new boss is removed. Everyone in the raid should take care not to create too much threat in front of the tank. Hunter Misdirection is quite effective in this situation.
During this phase, the raid should form a wall behind Mounted Attumen, with the tank facing Mounted Attumen away. Berserker Charge has a minimum range, thus as long as everyone is near enough to the monster, no one has to get struck with the ability.
