Below is a full breakdown of his WoW Midnight 80-90 leveling route that you can follow on your own alts.
XP Buffs You Need Before Starting
Before you begin the fastest 80-90 leveling route in Midnight, stack every available XP modifier:
25% Warband Bonus (account-wide, unlocked by having a max-level character)
15% War Mode (toggle in Stormwind or Orgrimmar before heading to Quel'Thalas)
10% Darkmoon Faire (optional, but adds significant speed when active)
Rested XP (park your alt in an inn the night before)
Harldan's 2h17m run used only Warband + War Mode (40% total). With Darkmoon Faire on top, the route becomes even faster. Your actual time will depend on gear and class, but even a moderately geared alt should finish in under 4 hours following this path.
The Route: Step-by-Step Overview
This WoW Midnight leveling route breaks into six distinct phases. Each phase is designed to maximize quest density and minimize travel time.
Phase 1: Early Delves (Level 80-81)
Talk to Leadrin in Silvermoon. Select Midnight, skip the Sunwell intro (it gives only 2k XP, not worth the time).
Pick Eversong Woods as your starting zone.
Immediately fly to Grudge Pit delve. Do it on Tier 2 since mobs die instantly at this level with decent gear, and T2 gives more XP on both kills and completion.
Complete Sunkiller Sanctum delve on Tier 2.
Complete Calamitus (Shadowguard Point) once for the Delver's Call quest. Do NOT spam it; one run is enough.
The key insight: do as many delves as possible at level 80-81 while scaling is in your favor, but do not waste time traveling to distant delves. Zul'Aman delves can wait until you naturally arrive there during the campaign.
Phase 2: Voidtorm Side Quests (Level 81-82)
This is the sleeper section that most guides completely ignore. Multiple quest chains sit right underneath Shadowguard Point with almost zero travel time:
Console quest near the Voidtorm entrance. Free 15k XP for pressing a button.
Aborn Killer quest: collect void essences while killing mobs. Completes passively as you do other quests. Another free 15k XP.
A 3-quest chain directly along the path to Sunkiller Sanctum. The final quest in this chain gives above-average XP.
People skip Voidtorm because it was inefficient during the main campaign. But these side quests are fast, dense, and overlap with your existing route perfectly.
Phase 3: Eversong Woods Campaign (Level 82-84)
Follow the Eversong Woods campaign while weaving in these high-value side quests:
Runestone Quest (picked up outside Silvermoon): 3 objectives spread across the entire zone. Sounds terrible, but each objective sits directly on the campaign path with only ~5 seconds of detour total. The follow-up quests give 25k+ XP combined.
Ranger Lodge Side Quest Hub: 3 quests in a tiny area, plus a 4th quest that insta-completes for a full 17k XP.
Instructor Anthiel Quest: breadcrumb near the coast. Above-average XP for minimal effort.
Naga Beach: excellent mob density for AoE pulls. Stack banner + AoE here for bonus kill XP.
If you are using the free Follow The Arrow addon by Harldan, the arrow will guide you through most of Eversong automatically. His troll riddle puzzle solution alone saves several minutes with a numbered overlay image.
Phase 4: Zul'Aman Campaign (Level 84-86)
Transition to the Zul'Aman campaign with these optimizations:
Set your Hearthstone to Amani Village before starting the zone.
Northern quest hub (3 quests, tiny area): one of them insta-completes for 17k XP.
Multi-quest routing at Amani: pick up all available quests, use /dance during a 15-second cooldown on another objective. Every second counts.
Do Twilight Crypts and Shadow Enclave delves on Tier 1 (scaling is rougher at 85+, T1 saves time).
Murloc area on the coast: campaign + side quest objectives overlap perfectly.
The first half of the Zul'Aman campaign is significantly more efficient than the second half. If you have enough XP modifiers, you may not need to finish the entire zone.
Phase 5: The Big Turn-In (Level 88)
This is the most important timing trick in the entire WoW Midnight 80-90 route. Delver's Call quest rewards scale with your level. Turning them in at 88 gives dramatically more XP than turning them in at 87.
At level 88, return to Silvermoon and turn in:
All Delver's Call quest completions (one per delve visited)
Artor's Journey quest
Decimus quest (Voidtorm)
First craft bonuses for Engineering, Leatherworking, and Skinning (16k XP each, equivalent to a full quest)
This single burst of turn-ins should push you from 88 well into 89.
Phase 6: Final Push to 90
If you are short on XP after the big turn-in (which is likely without Darkmoon Faire), you have backup options:
Continue the northern half of the Zul'Aman campaign (still efficient quests)
A side quest chain in Herandar near Grudge Pit (10-quest chain, saved as emergency backup)
Bonus Voidtorm side quest chains that were skipped earlier
Harldan needed one extra quest chain in Herandar to hit 90, finishing at 2 hours 17 minutes total.
Delve Strategy: Spam vs. Route
The popular strategy of spamming Calamitus (Shadowguard Point) for XP is well-known: kill the robots at the entrance, leave, repeat. Most players report 3 to 4 hour leveling times with this method.
Harldan's questing route beat that by nearly 2 hours. The reason is simple: quest completion XP stacks with mob kill XP, and optimized quest chains give more total XP per minute than repeating the same delve.
That said, Calamitus spam can be useful for the first 2-3 levels if you want a braindead start. After that, switch to the questing route for faster progression.
Best Classes for Fast Leveling
Any class can follow this route, but some have clear advantages:

Tips for Your Run
Disable QuickQuest before talking to Leadrin, or it will auto-accept the Sunwell teleport and waste your setup.
Carry Gunshoes for the mount-disabled intro section and specific quest objectives.
Drop Battle Standards at every large mob pull for bonus kill XP.
Use Arcantina Key as a Silvermoon Hearthstone (15-minute cooldown) to save travel time.
Loot selectively: skip looting chests at the end of delves, only loot the final boss if a quest requires it.
Track your XP at level 87-88. If you are on pace, skip to the big turn-in. If short, continue Zul'Aman.
