What's New in TBC Anniversary Phase 2
Phase 2 "Overlords of Outland" is live as of May 14, 2026. This phase unlocks the two flagship 25-player raids that define mid-tier TBC progression: Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep. You also gain access to two new factions (Ogri'la and Sha'tari Skyguard), Arena Season 2, and several profession upgrades.
Here's what to focus on:
- Serpentshrine Cavern - the harder raid with 6 bosses and gloves/legs/helm tokens
- Tempest Keep - The Eye - the easier raid with 4 bosses and shoulders/chest tokens
- Tier 5 Set Completion - you need both raids to complete your armor set
- Ogri'la and Sha'tari Skyguard - daily quest hubs for gold and mounts
- Arena Season 2 - new PvP bracket with updated ratings
- Druid Swift Flight Form - 280% flight speed through Anzu quest chain
Serpentshrine Cavern: Full Raid Overview
Serpentshrine Cavern sits in Coilfang Reservoir, Zangarmarsh. The entrance is a submerged pipe that leads deep underwater into Lady Vashj's lair. You'll need an attunement chain to enter, and the entire raid is tuned in post-nerf state, making it manageable for organized guilds while still demanding proper execution.
The raid features six bosses, each dropping Tier 5 tokens (item level 128-141). SSC is significantly harder than Tempest Keep in the current patch and is typically tackled second after your guild gains confidence on TK.
| Boss | Location | Mechanics | Loot Type |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hydross the Unstable | First encounter | Two-phase fight with Hydross switching between physical and magic damage. Tank swap required. | Nature/frost resist gear, weapons, off-pieces |
| The Lurker Below | Deep pool arena | Massive sea creature that ambushes from the water. Spout (rotating water beam) one-shots anyone it hits. Dive phases spawn adds. Fish the boss out by fishing in the Strange Pool. | Chest, off-hand, misc gear |
| Leotheras the Blind | Second chamber | Demon hunter with high melee damage and demonic form transitions. Heavy tank cooldown usage. | Helmet (T5), gloves, weapons |
| Fathom-Lord Karathress | Outer area | Four-add fight with coordinated kill order and kiting mechanics. AOE-heavy encounter. | Helm, shoulders, trinkets |
| Morogrim Tidewalker | Final chamber | Waterlord with tidal waves and spawn mechanics. Requires spread positioning and fast adds. | Chest, gloves, weapons |
| Lady Vashj | Final boss arena | Three-phase fight. Phase 1 DPS race, Phase 2 elements add management, Phase 3 hard enrage. Most mechanically demanding fight in Phase 2. | Legs (T5), shoulders, tier tokens |
Lady Vashj is the hardest boss in Phase 2 TBC. She requires flawless execution across three distinct phases, tight DPS coordination, and proper element management. Most guilds spend weeks perfecting this encounter.
SSC loot drops T5 tokens for gloves, legs, and helm slots. You'll also get off-piece gear, weapons, and accessories. The attunement chain requires completing a quest series in Serpentshrine Cavern itself, so plan on running normal dungeons to prepare your gear beforehand.

Tempest Keep: The Eye Raid Guide
Tempest Keep is a floating fortress in Netherstorm that serves as the second major raid of Phase 2. Unlike SSC, TK is significantly easier in the current patch state, making it the recommended first raid for Phase 2 progression. Most guilds can clear all four bosses within their first few lockouts.
The raid has four bosses and drops T5 tokens for shoulders and chest slots. Tempest Keep is also famous for being the source of the Ashes of Al'ar mount, the most iconic flying mount in TBC.
| Boss | Difficulty | Key Mechanics | Notable Loot |
|---|---|---|---|
| Al'ar | Moderate | Phoenix boss with two phases. Platform hopping in Phase 1, Phoenix adds in Phase 2. Requires ranged positioning discipline. | Weapons, trinkets, off-pieces |
| Void Reaver | Easy | Giant arcane golem with knockback and Arcane Orbs. Nicknamed "Loot Reaver" because he's a free kill with great loot. Just spread out and dodge orbs. | Shoulders (T5 token), off-pieces |
| High Astromancer Solarian | Moderate | Arcane mage boss with portal spawns, Wrath of the Astromancer debuff (explodes on nearby players), and add waves. Spread and manage adds. | Cloaks, trinkets, off-pieces |
| Kael'thas Sunstrider | Moderate-Hard | Epic multi-phase fight. Phase 1: kill four advisors. Phase 2: advisors resurrect. Phase 3: legendary weapons spawn. Phase 4: Kael'thas himself. Long fight but forgiving compared to Lady Vashj. | Chest (T5 token), Ashes of Al'ar mount (rare), legendary weapons |
Recommended raid order: Tempest Keep first, then Serpentshrine Cavern. This approach lets your guild build confidence on easier mechanics before tackling Lady Vashj and the harder SSC encounters.
Ashes of Al'ar is a rare drop from Kael'thas Sunstrider. It's the most iconic flying mount in TBC, a fiery phoenix that turns heads everywhere. Many players farm TK weekly across multiple characters just for this mount.
Skip the farm. Our Tempest Keep raid boost guarantees you all four boss kills and the chance at Ashes of Al'ar in one lockout.
Tier 5 Set Completion
Tier 5 armor is split between the two Phase 2 raids. You must clear both Serpentshrine Cavern and Tempest Keep to complete a full set for any class. This design forces guilds to maintain consistent progression in both raids throughout the phase.
| Armor Slot | Raid Source | Boss | Item Level |
|---|---|---|---|
| Helm | SSC | Lady Vashj | 141 |
| Shoulders | TK | Void Reaver | 141 |
| Chest | TK | Kael'thas Sunstrider | 141 |
| Gloves | SSC | Leotheras the Blind | 128 |
| Legs | SSC | Fathom-Lord Karathress | 141 |
All Tier 5 pieces have item level 128-141 stats, making them a significant upgrade from Phase 1 dungeons and raids. Prioritize chest, shoulders, helm, and legs first, then backfill gloves as tokens appear.
Want guaranteed progression through both raids? Our raid bundle service covers full clears of both SSC and TK with guaranteed loot payout.
Ogri'la and Sha'tari Skyguard Factions
Phase 2 introduces two daily quest hubs that provide consistent gold income and exclusive rewards. Both factions are essential for gearing and farming.
Ogri'la (Blade's Edge Mountains)
Ogri'la is located in the Blade's Edge Mountains and requires flying to access. You'll need to complete a group quest chain to unlock daily quests, but the investment is worth it. The dailies pay solid gold and the faction vendor sells an epic plate boots item (Vortex Walking Boots) at Honored, plus the useful Dreamcrystal Band ring at Exalted.
This faction is particularly valuable for gold farming, averaging 150-200g per day for a fast run. Priority rewards are Vortex Walking Boots (mandatory for plate DPS) and Dreamcrystal Band (trinket stat-stick).
Sha'tari Skyguard (Southeast Terokkar Forest)
Sha'tari Skyguard is the air wing of the Sha'tar faction and is unlocked through daily quests and mob kills in Terokkar. The main reward is a collection of epic flying mounts (Nether Ray variants) in different colors, all available at Exalted. These mounts are purely cosmetic but highly sought after for transmog collections.
Skyguard dailies are slightly less profitable than Ogri'la but offer the unique mount rewards. Most raiders do both dailies per day for maximum gold during Phase 2.
Arena Season 2 and PvP Changes
Arena Season 2 launches with Phase 2 and introduces new ranked gear alongside adjusted rating requirements. The weapon rating threshold is reduced from 1,850 to 1,700, making high-end gear slightly more accessible. Season 1 items are now purchasable with Honor Points instead of Arena Points, allowing casual PvPers to catch up on gear.
Season 2 supports all three brackets: 2v2, 3v3, and 5v5. The new gear is item level 141 (same as SSC/TK raids) with PvP-specific stats that favor resilience and power in arena combat.
Check our TBC Anniversary PvP guide for arena strategy and comp rankings.

Druid Swift Flight Form
Druids in Phase 2 can finally unlock Swift Flight Form, a permanent flying ability that matches epic flying mount speed (280%). This requires completing a quest chain that culminates in summoning Anzu inside Heroic Sethekk Halls.
The quest chain has several prerequisites: Revered reputation with Lower City, access to Heroic Sethekk Halls, and epic flying training already unlocked. Once you meet these requirements, turn in the quest at the Sanctuary of Ancient Kings in Terokkar Forest to spawn Anzu.
Anzu is a rare demon boss that drops Reins of the Raven Lord, an epic flying mount with a small droprate. The quest reward is Swift Flight Form, which druids get regardless of the mount drop. This form is so powerful that it's considered one of the defining features of druid quality-of-life in TBC.
Phase 2 Preparation Tips
Recommended Raid Order
Start with Tempest Keep, then move to Serpentshrine Cavern. TK is mechanically simpler and has only four bosses, giving your raid time to execute cleanly. After a few TK clears, you'll have gear and confidence to handle SSC's harder encounters.
Attunement Preparation
Both raids require attunement quests. Start these immediately at phase launch. For SSC, you'll complete a quest series inside Serpentshrine Cavern itself. For TK, the chain is slightly shorter but still requires dungeon access. Our attunement service can accelerate this grind if you're time-constrained.
Consumables and Professions
Stock up on flask of pure death (melee DPS), flask of eternal wisdom (casters), super mana potions, and constitution potions. Alchemy gets new cauldron recipes in Phase 2 that provide group buffs during raids. Engineering gets epic goggles with stat bonuses and active effects.
Gear Targets Before Phase 2
Enter Phase 2 with at least item level 128 gear from Phase 1 content and heroic dungeons. You don't need perfect gear, but being undergeared makes early bosses significantly harder.

Yes, both raids require attunement. The quests are relatively quick but mandatory. Tempest Keep's attunement is slightly shorter than SSC's. See our attunements guide for the exact quest chains.
What is the recommended raid order?
Tempest Keep first, Serpentshrine Cavern second. TK is mechanically simpler with only four bosses, allowing your guild to build experience before facing Lady Vashj and SSC's harder encounters.

Ogri'la dailies pay the most gold per day (150-200g for a fast run) and reward epic plate boots at Honored. Sha'tari Skyguard dailies are slightly less profitable but give epic flying mounts at Exalted. Most raiders do both for maximum gold and rewards during Phase 2.
