WoW Midnight PvP Tier List - Galactic Gladiator Season 1
Midnight Season 1 PvP is live and the meta is brutal. We're tracking the Galactic Gladiator season with the March 30 hotfix changes that just flipped everything upside down. Conquest gear sits at ilvl 289. Gladiator cutoff is 2300 — grind accordingly.
The March 30 patch hit different. Tank self-healing got gutted (-25% across the board in PvP). Subtlety Rogue is down 10%. Ret Paladin took a hard -15% hit despite getting buffed in PvE. But Affliction Warlock? Massive PvP buffs (+15% all damage, +100% on Shadow Bolt and Drain Soul). The tier list shifted. Classes you relied on are suddenly mid.

Arena Tier List (3v3)
S-Tier DPS & Support
Augmentation Evoker is the support pillar. Every high-rating team wants one. Utility is insane: buff damage, shield, interrupts. If you're playing Augment, you're playing well because the kit carries. Easiest climb to 2300.
Unholy Death Knight dominates DPS slots. Diseased Touch spreads everywhere. Pet pressure forces cooldowns. Sustained damage is cracked. Pairing with a Disc Priest = instant pressure. Tank nerfs didn't hurt Unholy as much as other melee because Unholy doesn't rely on self-healing — it kills things faster instead.
Devourer Demon Hunter is the other DPS standard. Mobility, burst, sustained damage all present. Picks vulnerable targets and deletes them. Pairs with Unholy DK and Disc for nasty burst windows.
Affliction Warlock is the post-buff sleeper. The March 30 changes turned Warlock from B-tier to S-tier overnight. Shadow Bolt damage doubled in PvP. Drain Soul is now a threat. Stack Warlock with another DPS and a healer, watch teams get drained. Locks were already underestimated; now they're broken.
A-Tier DPS
Frost Mage brings burst and kiting. Frozen Orb is layer control. Poly is pure value against physical teams. Weak against Warrior+Rogue cleaves but dominates casters.
Arms Warrior is steady. Execute pressure, single-target control, heavy damage windows. Not flashy but reliable. Gets rolled by DK teams but shreds casters and hunters.
Elemental Shaman is underrated. Totems control space. Lightning Bolt crit spam in good windows. Vulnerable to hardcasts but if you survive the opener, you scale hard.
Healer Tier List
Discipline Priest is the uncontested best healer. Damage and heals from the same buttons. Damage reduction is nuts. Pairs with everything. If you want to heal and climb, roll Disc or reroll DPS.
Restoration Druid brings utility: roots, cyclone, instant heals. Weaker direct throughput than Disc but massive control. Better into physical cleaves.
Restoration Shaman works into specific comps. Grounding Totem into mage teams, healing surge spam into training. Not generalist enough for consistent rating.
Holy Paladin is viable but tight. Bubble is strong defensive but damage window is limited. You'll lose to Disc mirrors but beat some off-meta comps.
Solo Shuffle Tier List
Solo Shuffle rotates 1v1, 2v2, 3v3. Different rules than 3v3. You play every role.
Unholy Death Knight tops the list. Pet gives you somebody to cleave. Self-sustain through damage. 1v1 is winnable because your pet tanks. 3v3 you're the carry. Tight setup but powerful.
Ret Paladin is slept on here. Yeah, PvP damage is down -15% but in Shuffle you get healing, cleave potential, and stun pressure. Divine Purpose procs carry 2v2 windows. Ret players that adapt to lower damage numbers still climb.
Frost Mage shreds in Shuffle. Kiting is overtuned in 1v1 matchups. Poly in group phases. Freezing runs carry the bracket. Demand Frozen Orb placement and you get wins.
Arms Warrior is consistent. Every role (DPS, off-tank energy, healing window) you're relevant. Rage generation is forgiving. Not the flashiest but reliable climber.
Affliction Warlock post-buff is Shuffle-viable. Shadow Bolt in 1v1 is actually scary now. Drain Soul in group phases doubles healer burden. Vulnerability stacks are disgusting in 3v3 phases when you have teammates.
RBG Tier List
Rated Battlegrounds punish teamwork gaps hard. Individual skill matters less. Specs that control objectives win.
Affliction Warlock is the RBG meta pick. Vulnerability debuff scales multiplicatively with team coordination. Drain Soul on flag carrier is untouchable. Every team wants a lock for damage reduction + sustained pressure.
Balance Druid brings layer control (mushrooms, roots) + single-target threat. Starfire spam into vulnerable targets. Instant heals if training gets hard. Flexible, strong.
Elemental Shaman is objective support. Totems plant on flags. Chain heal covers clusters. Lightning Bolt is reliable flag defense. Better than you think.
Frost Mage is flag carry support or blender. Frozen Orb denies space. Poly stops flag pickups. Kiting healers off is valuable. Every team needs one.
Mistweaver Monk is the flag carry specialist. Healing is underrated in RBGs. You keep flag safe, team wins. Roll with physical damage (Warrior, DK, Rogue) and create untouchable flag plays.
March 30 PvP Hotfix Changes
Tank Self-Healing Reduction (-25% across all tanks) is the biggest nerf. Prot Paladin can't outheal burst anymore. Prot Warrior loses survivability. This kills tank damage roles but doesn't touch tank PvE because bosses force defensive gameplay. In PvP, this means cc chains actually kill instead of tanks just sitting it out.
Subtlety Rogue (-10% all damage) is targeted. Sub Rogue was climbing too fast. Still viable but you don't burst as clean. Opener is slightly less spicy. Assassination stays untouched — shift was deliberate.
Retribution Paladin (-15% all damage) despite PvE buffs is weird design but intentional. Blizzard didn't want Ret Paladin becoming 3v3 meta. It's still playable (especially in Shuffle) but you can't facesmash anymore. You need setup and cleave windows.
Survival Hunter (-8% all damage) is a light tap. Survival was creeping up. This keeps it honest. Still does good cleave damage but not busted.
Affliction Warlock (+15% all damage, +100% Shadow Bolt/Drain Soul) is the flip. Warlock went from "why is this here" to "every comp needs this." Shadow Bolt is now a primary damage tool. Drain Soul pressure is real. This is the balance patch that made lock players smile.
Best PvP Comps
DK/Lock/Disc (The New Standard)
Unholy DK + Affliction Warlock + Discipline Priest. This comp is absurd right now. DK applies pressure, Lock stacks vulnerability, Disc shields through everything and damages from the same buttons. The enemy healer has to choose between dispelling vulnerability or healing. They lose. Comp lives forever, kills in 30 seconds. Climb this and you're set to 2300+.
DH/DK/Disc (The Double Melee Blender)
Devourer Demon Hunter + Unholy Death Knight + Discipline Priest. Both DPS are melee. They train one target. Pet adds pressure. Disease spreading. Cc isn't an option, just die. Weaker into ranged cleaves but straight-up dominates casters. Play this if your team communicates focus targets.
Frost Mage/Arms Warrior/Druid Healer (The Control Comp)
Frost Mage + Arms Warrior + Restoration Druid. Layer control from Mage. Single-target threat from Warrior. Cyclone into Kill targets. No burst but you control the map. They kite, you slow. They chase, you cc. Grind teams out. Slower climb but consistent wins.

Is Affliction Warlock really S-tier after one hotfix?
Yes. The numbers confirm it: +100% on Shadow Bolt and Drain Soul is not a number mistake. Vulnerability stacking makes it scale into team damage. Every comp that can accommodate Warlock should. This isn't flavor, this is data.
Can I still climb with Rogue in 3v3?
Assassination Rogue? Yeah, it works. Subtlety Rogue got hit -10% and it hurts. Sub was already tight in 3v3 (vulnerable to cc, reliant on setup). The damage nerf makes it worse. Outlaw doesn't exist. Roll Assassination or expect slower climbs.
What happened to tank specs in PvP?
All tank self-healing down 25%. You can't sustain through pressure anymore. Tanks are now pure mitigation/cc tools, not damage dealers. If your tank is trying to damage in 3v3, you're griefing. Prot Paladin bubble, Prot Warrior shield; that's the value. DPS does damage.
Is Ret Paladin completely dead?
No. It's playable but requires adaptation. The -15% nerf (despite PvE buffs) means your opener won't one-shot clean. You need setup, cleave windows, or teammates following up. In Solo Shuffle where you heal and tank too, Ret is actually strong because utility scales harder. Don't roll Ret expecting faceroll; roll it expecting intelligent play.
Should I switch from Frost Mage to Affiction Warlock?
Only if you want to. Frost Mage is A-tier and stable. Affliction Warlock is S-tier but harder to play correctly (positioning, DoT management, vulnerability stacking). Mage is pick-and-play. Warlock rewards optimization. If you're 2000+ rating, Warlock climbs faster. If you're 1800, Mage gets you there more reliably.
