WoW Midnight DPS Tier List - March 30, 2026 Hotfix Edition
The March 30 hotfix completely reshuffled the DPS meta. Blizzard buffed half the roster and gutted a few specs, so if you've been slacking on updating your guides, you're already out of date. This tier list reflects actual performance numbers from Archon.gg, Warcraft Logs, and live testing post-patch. We're ranking every DPS spec for both Mythic+ and raid content so you can pick the right class to pump with.
How We Rank DPS Specs
Our rankings are built on three pillars: raw DPS numbers (single-target and AoE), group utility (buffs, debuffs, interrupts), and how consistent they are across different encounter types. We pull data from Archon scores (M+ +7 to +18 average), Warcraft Logs parses (Mythic Voidspire, Dreamrift, and March on Quel'Danas), and real-world performance from top guilds and key pushers.
S-tier specs dominate both content types. A-tier is always welcome in groups. B-tier is solid if you play it right. C-tier means you'll be waiting longer for invites. That said, a cracked player on B-tier will outdps a copium player on S-tier every single time.
Mythic+ DPS Tier List (March 30 Hotfix)
Mythic+ dungeons in Midnight Season 1 are Magisters' Terrace, Maisara Caverns, Nexus-Point Xenas, Windrunner Spire, Pit of Saron, Skyreach, Seat of the Triumvirate, and Algeth'ar Academy. AoE damage and burst windows matter more than anywhere else in the game. You need specs that can pump on trash packs and still bring the ST damage for bosses like Vorasius and Imperator Averzian.
S-Tier (Meta M+ DPS)
| Spec | Archon Score | Why It Slaps |
|---|---|---|
| Augmentation Evoker | 3077 | Ebon Might scales your entire group. You're not playing for your own damage, you're playing to make your carries cracked. Essential in high keys. |
| Unholy Death Knight | 3054 | Festering Wounds spread for days. Boss damage is cracked, AoE is cracked, survivability is cracked. No weaknesses. |
| Devourer Demon Hunter | 3016 | Chaos Brand (5% magic damage) makes your mages and casters hit different. Blade Dance AoE is insane. The utility alone keeps you invited. |
A-Tier (Excellent M+ DPS - 20 Specs)
| Spec | Archon Score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Elemental Shaman | 2993 | Lava Burst got a fat +20% buff on March 30. Ascendance windows are disgusting. One of the biggest winners from the hotfix. |
| Arcane Mage | 2978 | Arcane Blast +25% from hotfix. Spellsteal utility. Bloodlust. Funnel damage is disgusting on priority targets. |
| Arms Warrior | 2977 | Surprise turnaround! Arms got a +15% buff and is suddenly competitive. Cleave damage on multi-target packs is now solid. |
| Frost Mage | 2977 | Ice Shard damage is consistent. Defensive toolkit keeps you safe in high keys. Always reliable. |
| Fury Warrior | 2975 | Whirlwind procs are bonkers. Strong in trash packs. ST damage keeps up with raid-level bosses. |
| Demonology Warlock | 2974 | Got a -4% nerf but still mega meta. Stacked AoE and boss damage keep it S-adjacent. Portal utility adds value. |
| Subtlety Rogue | 2973 | Shadow Dance burst windows. Sap utility for skips. Consistent ST damage on priority targets. |
| Feral Druid | 2969 | Rake damage +20% from hotfix. March 30 was a massive win for Feral. Bleeds spread on AoE is good scaling. |
| Affliction Warlock | 2968 | Dots on everything. UA chains for uncapped AoE. Solid consistent damage. |
| Marksmanship Hunter | 2968 | Rapid Fire bursts. High mobility. Defensives keep you alive on Windrunner Spire trash. |
| Retribution Paladin | 2966 | Hammer of Justice is the best interrupt in the game. Blessing of Summer buff. ST rework made single-target competitive again. |
| Havoc Demon Hunter | 2964 | Mobility + consistent AoE. Eye Beam windows are clean. Reliable in every dungeon. |
| Balance Druid | 2961 | Solar Eclipse burst is insane. +20% buff from March 30 makes this a huge value pick now. Utility for days. |
| Shadow Priest | 2954 | Shadow Word: Death burst windows. +16% buff this patch. Vampiric Touch spreads for AoE. Mind Sear is decent filler. |
| Outlaw Rogue | 2953 | RtB buffs scale hard on DPS. Run Through AoE is decent. Survivability is sketchy but damage is there. |
| Enhancement Shaman | 2948 | Chain Lightning + Stormstrike. Utility for everyone. ST damage got buffed alongside Elemental. |
| Survival Hunter | 2947 | Melee range is risky but AoE via bomb spread is clean. Flanking Strike ST is solid. |
| Fire Mage | 2946 | Ignite spreads for easy AoE. Phoenix Flames procs keep it flowing. Consistent ST on bosses. |
| Beast Mastery Hunter | 2942 | BM got a surprise +5% all-damage buff plus Cobra Shot damage doubled. Range safety is valuable in high keys. |
B-Tier (Solid M+ DPS - Still Viable)
| Spec | Archon Score | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Windwalker Monk | 2915 | Strong ST during Serenity. Whirling Dragon Punch for cleave. Decent mobility but lower ceilings than A-tier. |
| Destruction Warlock | 2895 | Cataclysm bursts are big but inconsistent. Better for raid cleave. M+ feels clunky in short fights. |
| Assassination Rogue | 2860 | Exsanguinate bursts feel good but AoE is weak. ST-only spec hurts in dungeon environments. |
C-Tier (Below Average M+ DPS)
Devastation Evoker (2778) - Got a -5% nerf from the hotfix. Personal damage is low, and unlike Aug Evoker you don't provide group value. Frost Death Knight (2759) - Weak ST, mediocre AoE, no raid utility. Unholy is the DK spec this tier.
Raid DPS Tier List (Mythic Voidspire, Dreamrift, March on Quel'Danas)
Raid DPS is a different beast. You're fighting Imperator Averzian, Vorasius, Fallen-King Salhadaar, Vaelgor & Ezzorak, and Lightblinded Vanguard in Voidspire. Chimaerus in Dreamrift. Belo'ren and L'ura/Midnight Falls in March on Quel'Danas. Single-target damage, cleave, and sustainability matter way more than pure AoE. Specs that excel in both content are the meta.
S-Tier (Top Raid DPS)
| Spec | Mythic Parse DPS | Why It Dominates |
|---|---|---|
| Frost Mage | 77.5k | Consistent ST is king in raids. Blizzard uptime on cleave fights. Bloodlust makes your whole raid hit harder. Zero weaknesses. |
| Unholy Death Knight | 75.6k | ST is insane. Pestilence spreads make council fights easy. Army of the Dead burst is cracked. Top of DPS meters every night. |
| Devourer Demon Hunter | 74.9k | Chaos Brand (5% magic damage) is so essential guilds bench you if they have two. Personal damage is strong too. |
| Retribution Paladin | 70.6k | March 30 rework made Ret a raid monster. Hammer of Justice utility. Blessing of Summer. Off-heal capability. |
A-Tier (Great Raid DPS)
| Spec | Mythic Parse DPS | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Destruction Warlock | 84.8k | Niche high on Vaelgor & Ezzorak (two-target). Cataclysm cleave is stupid good for council mechanics. |
| Devastation Evoker | 76.7k | Rescue utility is unique. Zephyr helps mechanics. Got a -5% nerf but still solid. Shard bomb spread is decent AoE. |
| Fury Warrior | 76.5k | Cleave sustained damage. Whirlwind on multi-target is clean. Battle Shout buff for raid. |
| Marksmanship Hunter | 74.5k | Rapid Fire bursts. Range safety. Consistent ST damage. Always welcome. |
| Demonology Warlock | ~72k | Demonic Tyrant windows are massive. Portal utility for mechanics. Healthstone clutch healing. |
| Arcane Mage | ~71k | Arcane Blast buff helps. Spellsteal utility. Bloodlust value. Consistent performer. |
| Shadow Priest | ~70k | Shadow Word: Death crits are huge. +16% buff. Mind Sear cleave. Good damage spread. |
| Feral Druid | ~69k | Rake buff (+20%) from March 30. Rip bleeds on multiple targets. Good sustained damage. |
| Subtlety Rogue | ~68k | Shadow Dance bursts. Exsanguinate windows are big. Consistent ST damage. |
| Enhancement Shaman | ~68k | Stormstrike damage. Chain Lightning cleave. Wind Shear utility. Solid all-rounder. |
B-Tier (Solid Raid DPS - 62k-75k Range)
Arms Warrior, Balance Druid (+20% buff), Elemental Shaman, Survival Hunter, Outlaw Rogue, Beast Mastery Hunter (+5% all-damage buff), Havoc Demon Hunter, Windwalker Monk, Fire Mage, Assassination Rogue. All viable but lack the raw output or utility of S/A tiers.
C-Tier (Below Average Raid DPS)
Frost Death Knight - Weak ST. Augmentation Evoker - Only 20-28k personal damage because you're a support DPS. Essential for group value, terrible for personal meters.
What Changed: March 30, 2026 Hotfix
Blizzard went nuclear with buffs and nerfs. This patch reshuffled the entire meta. Here's what actually mattered:
Biggest Winners
- Retribution Paladin (+25% ST damage) - Full rework. Was dogshit, now raids want you for Hammer of Justice and Blessing of Summer utility PLUS competitive damage. Archon jumped from low B-tier to A-tier.
- Balance Druid (+20% damage) - Solar Eclipse rotation got turbocharged. Went from mid-pack to legitimate A-tier in M+ and B-tier in raid. Actual value pick now.
- Shadow Priest (+16% damage) - Shadow Word: Death bursts scaled hard. Dot spreading is now competitive AoE. Was C-tier, now sits in A-tier M+ and A-tier raid.
- Arcane Mage (Arcane Blast +25%) - Stayed S-adjacent but the buff solidified A-tier. One of the most consistent performers now.
- Elemental Shaman (Lava Burst +20%) - Ascendance windows are absolutely disgusting. Top A-tier M+ spec. Viable raid pull too.
- Feral Druid (Rake +20%, general +6%) - Got the dual-buff treatment. M+ Archon jumped hard. Raid sustained damage is now strong.
- Beast Mastery Hunter (+5% all damage, Cobra Shot damage doubled) - Surprise buff. Was D-tier, now solid B-tier. Range value keeps it relevant.
Biggest Losers
- Guardian Druid (-20% damage) - Blizzard gutted the tank spec for balance reasons. Totally irrelevant to DPS tier list but herbals are crying.
- Demonology Warlock (-4%) - Still S-adjacent but the nerf stings. Still meta but no longer head and shoulders above everyone.
- Devourer Demon Hunter (-4% then hotfix +3%) - Took a nerf then got a partial revert in the follow-up. Still S-tier due to Chaos Brand utility but personal damage took a hit.
- Devastation Evoker (-5%) - Dropped hard. Was A-tier, now borderline. Personal damage is bad and support's already covered by Aug Evoker.
- Discipline Priest (-12% damage) - Irrelevant to this list but worth noting the healer spec got absolutely nuked. PvP spec btw.
Best DPS Specs Overall (M+ + Raid Combined)
If you're picking a class to main for the whole season:
- Warlock (Demonology/Destruction) - Top performer in both M+ and raid. Flexibility between specs. Portal utility. Healthstone clutch plays. Ports matter on maps like Windrunner Spire.
- Demon Hunter (Devourer/Havoc) - Chaos Brand is essential in raids. Both specs top-tier M+. Mobility is unmatched. One of the safest mains.
- Death Knight (Unholy) - ST king in raids. Strong M+ presence. No bad matchups. Consistent top 3 DPS in every environment.
- Mage (Frost/Arcane/Fire) - Bloodlust is priceless. Frost and Arcane compete for A-tier. Fire plays second fiddle but still solid. Teleport utility matters.
- Shaman (Elemental/Enhancement) - Lava Burst buff made Elemental cracked. Utility spreads across both specs. Chain Lightning never gets old.

Best M+ Comp Archetypes
Don't just stack meta specs. Comps matter. Here are three archetypes that farm keys hard:
The Spam AoE Comp
Tank + Healer + Demonology Warlock + Elemental Shaman + Frost Mage. This comp dumps AoE on everything. Magisters' Terrace trash gets obliterated. Bosses still die fast due to stacked ST. Healer cries because damage is out of control but keys are 3-minute clears.
The Single-Target Nuke Comp
Tank + Healer + Unholy Death Knight + Arcane Mage + Subtlety Rogue. All three DPS are top-tier ST performers. Bosses like Vorasius and Chimaerus die in seconds. Trash is slower but you skip mechanics with DPS. Good for pushing high keys where mechanics punish sloppy play.
The Utility Flex Comp
Tank + Healer + Devourer Demon Hunter (Chaos Brand) + Ret Paladin (Hammer of Justice, utility heals) + Elemental Shaman (interrupts, utility). Everyone brings something extra. Keys run smoothly because you handle mechanics cleanly. This comp shines on tyranny affixes where you need defensive layers.
Tier Set Impacts
The Voidspire tier sets drastically change some specs' viability. Feral Druid's 4-piece is one of the best bonuses in the raid. Shadow Priest's tier set feels mediocre compared to other casters. Frost Mage's tier pushes it higher. Ret Paladin's tier buff is huge. Always sim before deciding if a spec is worth gearing.

FAQ
What is the best DPS class in WoW Midnight?
No single "best" but Warlock and Demon Hunter are the safest bets. Warlock excels in both M+ and raid with flexibility. Demon Hunter brings essential Chaos Brand utility plus cracked personal damage. If you want pure ST: Unholy Death Knight. If you want AoE: Elemental Shaman or Demonology Warlock.
Which DPS spec is best for Mythic+?
Augmentation Evoker (3077 Archon) is mathematically the strongest because Ebon Might scales your entire group's damage exponentially. If you want personal damage: Unholy DK (3054) or Devourer DH (3016). For consistent clearing: Arcane Mage, Elemental Shaman, or Demonology Warlock. The meta doesn't have a single best spec, it has five tiers of viability.
What changed in the March 30 hotfix?
Blizzard buffed 11 specs and nerfed 5. Retribution Paladin got a +25% ST rework and jumped from D-tier to A-tier raid DPS. Balance Druid, Shadow Priest, and Elemental Shaman all got massive buffs and are now legitimate A-tier picks. Demonology Warlock took a -4% nerf but stayed meta. Devastation Evoker dropped -5% and lost viability. This patch completely reshuffled who gets raid invites.
Is Augmentation Evoker still good after the nerf?
Yes. Aug Evoker is 3077 Archon, the highest score on the board. Ebon Might buff is so powerful that your personal damage doesn't matter. Guilds bring you for the 4% damage buff to everyone else. The utility is why you're invited, not your DPS meters. Still S-tier M+. In raid you do 20-28k personal damage but your presence makes everyone else do 5% more, so the raid DPS multiplier is insane.
What are the best melee DPS specs?
S-tier: Unholy Death Knight (3054 M+, 75.6k raid). A-tier: Arms Warrior (2977, got +15% buff), Feral Druid (2969 M+, ~69k raid), Subtlety Rogue (2973 M+, ~68k raid), Havoc Demon Hunter (2964 M+), Retribution Paladin (2966 M+, 70.6k raid). Unholy is the clear king. Arms surprised everyone by becoming viable again. Feral and Sub are consistent. Don't sleep on Ret after the March 30 rework.
What are the best ranged DPS specs?
S-tier: Augmentation Evoker (3077 M+). A-tier: Elemental Shaman (2993 M+), Arcane Mage (2978 M+), Frost Mage (77.5k raid), Demonology Warlock (2974 M+, ~72k raid), Marksmanship Hunter (2968 M+, 74.5k raid), Shadow Priest (2954 M+, ~70k raid). Ranged has the deepest roster this patch. Mages are always safe picks. Locks got nerfed but still compete. Shadow Priest went from liability to asset after the buff.
Is Frost Death Knight viable in Midnight Season 1?
No. Frost DK is 2759 Archon in M+ (C-tier) and weak in raid (no cooldown-based kit scales poorly on bosses). Unholy is the Death Knight spec. Frost got no love in the March 30 hotfix. If you want to play DK, respec Unholy. Frost will get buffs eventually but right now it's a trap spec.
What's the best DPS for beginners?
Frost Mage is the safest DPS to learn on. Defensive toolkit keeps you alive while you figure out rotation. Consistent damage doesn't require perfect execution. Bloodlust buff makes your group like you even if you're parsing orange. Elemental Shaman is second choice - simpler rotation, great utility, way more forgiving than other top performers. Stay away from Rogue specs if you're learning, the positioning and timing are cracked difficulty.
