Week 1 Gearing Path (Fresh Level 90)

You just hit level 90. Don't panic. Midnight's gearing is designed to get you raid-ready quickly if you focus on the right activities in the right order.

Days 1-2: World Quests and Normal Dungeons

Start with world quests to pick up ilvl 207-224 gear. This takes maybe 2-3 hours of casual play. Immediately queue for normal dungeons (ilvl 213 base, upgradeable to 237). Normal dungeons have zero enrage timers, so even fresh players can clear them. Run each dungeon 2-3 times for a full set of gear. You should hit ilvl 220+ on day 1.

Days 3-4: Heroic Dungeons

Once you're ilvl 220+, jump into heroic dungeons. This is where gearing accelerates. Heroic drops ilvl 226 base gear, upgradeable to 250 with Veteran Dawncrests. Run each heroic dungeon 2-3 times. By day 4, you should be ilvl 235-240. This is the magic threshold for raiding normal difficulty.

Days 5-7: Mythic 0 + Delves + Crafting

Once you hit ilvl 235, unlock Mythic 0 dungeons. M0 drops ilvl 239 base gear, upgradeable to 256 with Champion crests. These are tuned much tighter than heroics but still forgiving for organized groups. Aim to run all four M0 dungeons at least once.

Simultaneously, craft a few key pieces: if you're a DPS, prioritize weapon and trinket slots. Crafted gear reaches ilvl 259 immediately without sparks, which is a huge jump. Crafting one or two pieces can instantly push you to raid-ready ilvl.

Run delves during your downtime. Delves are solo or 2-player content that requires no group coordination. Aim for delves 1-8 for quick upgrades while you wait for dungeon queue pops.

Target for end of week 1: ilvl 245-250. You're ready for normal raid.

Raiding for Gear

The Voidspire is Midnight's opening raid. It has three difficulties, and the loot table differs significantly.

Normal Raid vs. Heroic vs. Mythic

Normal Raid (The Voidspire Normal): Base ilvl 246, upgradeable to 259. Requires minimum ilvl 235. Strategy-light. Average guild clears this in week 1-2. You'll get 2-3 pieces per week from the raid, plus a Great Vault option. Total potential: 2-3 new pieces weekly.

Heroic Raid (The Voidspire Heroic): Base ilvl 259, upgradeable to 272. Requires minimum ilvl 255. Significantly harder than normal, but still doable for organized guilds by week 3-4. Vastly better loot. You'll get 2-3 pieces per week plus a Great Vault choice. Heroic gear is the sweet spot for most players.

Mythic Raid (The Voidspire Mythic): Base ilvl 272, upgradeable to 285. World-first race content. Only for elite guilds. Requires near-perfect execution and gear optimization.

If your goal is ilvl 272+ (raid-ready for harder M+ and heroic+ content), you need heroic raid or higher. Normal raid caps you at ilvl 259, which is solid but not cutting edge.

Great Vault Strategy for Raiders

The Great Vault unlocks weekly by completing raid wings. Each wing completion counts as one objective. Complete one wing = 1 vault choice. Complete all three = 3 vault choices. If you raid heroic and earn a guaranteed ilvl 272 vault reward, that's an automatic +13 ilvl gear piece every single week.

Don't skip this. Vault rewards are your most reliable gearing path outside dungeons.

Pro tip: Skip the normal mode grind. Our Midnight Raids Bundle clears all three raids on Heroic so you get maximum tier tokens and gear in a single week. For a single raid, our Heroic Raid Carry works too.

Mythic+ Gearing

Mythic+ starts March 24, 2026. one week after the raid opens. M+ is the most rewarding gearing path for dedicated players because you can run it infinitely, unlike raids which cap at weekly loot.

How Mythic+ Loot Works

M+ dungeon bosses drop gear based on the keystone level you complete. A +2 key drops ilvl 239, a +10 drops ilvl 252, a +12 drops ilvl 266. But here's the catch: running a +15 doesn't drop better gear than a +12. The scaling stops at +12 for base drops.

Why push higher keys then? Because of the Great Vault.

Great Vault + Mythic+

Your Great Vault reward from M+ depends on your highest keystone completed that week:

  • Completed +2 to +9: ilvl 252-266 (Champion track)
  • Completed +10 to +17: ilvl 272 guaranteed (Hero track)
  • Completed +18: ilvl 289 (Myth track)

A +10 key is the turning point. Complete even one +10 in a week, and your vault reward jumps to ilvl 272. That's a massive power spike. Most guilds push their members to at least one +10 weekly because the jump in vault rewards is so steep.

If you want to maximize gearing, find a static group, establish a weekly schedule, and aim for that +10 baseline. One +10 per week = one ilvl 272 piece per week = guaranteed progression to raid-ready gear within 4-6 weeks.

Maximize your vault options with our Mythic+ Boost service. We guarantee key completions and help you hit those vault thresholds.

Crafting and Sparks

Crafting in Midnight is gated by Sparks of Radiance, a weekly time-limited reagent. You get one spark per week, which means you can craft one high-tier piece per week.

Spark System Breakdown

Base Epic Crafted Gear (0 sparks): Ilvl 252-259. Can be crafted immediately. No gating. Perfect for week 1 crafting.

Hero Crafted Gear (1 spark): Ilvl 259-272. Requires 1 Spark of Radiance per piece. You'll have 1 spark per week, so you can craft one heroic-tier piece weekly.

Myth Crafted Gear (2 sparks): Ilvl 272-285. Requires 2 sparks per piece. That's a 2-week crafting timeline per piece, or 4 weeks for a full set of mythic crafted gear.

What to Craft First

Prioritize slots with the worst quest/dungeon rewards or longest gearing timelines:

  1. Weapon: Weapon drops are rare. Craft it immediately week 1 with base epic crafting. Getting ilvl 252-259 weapon in week 1 is a game-changer for damage output.
  2. Trinkets: Trinkets are stat sticks with rare valuable procs. Crafting a trinket in week 1 is worth the resources.
  3. Off-hand/shield: If you're not getting lucky with drops, craft your second weapon piece.
  4. Armor (non-vendor slots): Craft last, since dungeons and raids will eventually provide these.

One more thing: crests are capped at 100 per type per week. You can't farm infinite crests. Plan your upgrades wisely. Don't waste crests upgrading a piece you'll replace next week. Prioritize upgrading gear from raids and high M+ so it lasts longer.

Delves for Gear

Delves are Midnight's solo/duo content designed to be accessible to all players. You can run delves infinitely with no weekly lockout.

Delve Tiers and Rewards

Delves 1-8 drop ilvl 239-252. Delves 9-12 drop ilvl 252-259. This isn't raid-tier loot, but it's consistent, gated only by your personal skill and time availability. If you have 2-3 hours daily, you can run 3-4 delves and get 1-2 upgrades per session.

When to Run Delves

Delves are best for filling gaps in your gearing. You hit ilvl 240 but still need one more piece to reach heroic dungeon minimum? Run delves. Waiting for raid night or your M+ group to form? Run delves. Burned out on group content? Delves are chill.

Delves are also your best bet if you want to gear solo without relying on guilds or premade groups.

Our Delves Boost clears the highest tiers for maximum rewards, letting you accumulate gear while you focus on other content.

Fastest Gearing Strategy (Summary)

If you have limited playtime but want to hit ilvl 272+ (heroic raid ready) in 4-6 weeks, follow this priority order:

  1. Week 1: Crafting + Normal/Heroic Dungeons - Craft one weapon piece (ilvl 252+). Run heroic dungeons. Target ilvl 240-245.
  2. Week 2: M0 + Raids - Clear all M0 dungeons once. Join a normal raid. Start collecting Great Vault options. Target ilvl 245-255.
  3. Week 3: Heroic Dungeons + Normal Raid - Run heroic dungeons to push ilvl 250+. Complete normal raid for vault options. Target ilvl 250-260.
  4. Week 4: One +10 Key + M0 repeats - Push for a +10 key completion to unlock the ilvl 272 vault tier. Keep farming M0 and heroics. Target ilvl 260-268.
  5. Week 5+: Stable Heroic Raid + Weekly +10 Keys - Commit to heroic raid weekly and at least one +10 key. Chain vault completions. You'll hit ilvl 272+ by week 6.

This assumes an organized guild or static group. If you're guild-less, substitute raids with extra M+ keys and delves.

Want to skip weeks of grinding? Our Fast Gearing Service gets you raid-ready in hours, not weeks. We'll boost your key tiers, clear raids, and help you farm crests fast.

Frequently Asked Questions

What item level do I need to raid in Midnight?

Normal raid requires ilvl 235 minimum. Heroic raid requires ilvl 255 minimum. Mythic raid requires ilvl 275+ recommended (no hard requirement). Most guilds enforce soft minimums higher than these to ensure smooth progression.

What should I craft first in Midnight Season 1?

Craft your weapon first. Weapons have the worst drop rates and highest stat scaling. A ilvl 252 crafted weapon in week 1 will carry you through the first month of progression. Trinkets are second priority. Armor pieces are last since they drop from every source.

How does the Great Vault work in Midnight?

Complete raid wings or M+ dungeons to unlock vault objectives. Completing 1 wing or any M+ dungeons = 1 vault choice. 2 = 2 choices. 3 = 3 choices. Each week, you can pick one reward from the vault. Your reward ilvl is determined by your highest achievement that week (highest raid difficulty cleared or highest M+ key completed).

Is Mythic+ or raiding better for gear?

Both. M+ is better if you want infinite runs and consistent gear. Raids are better if you want specific drops and guild camaraderie. Ideally, do both: raid weekly for raid gear, push M+ keys weekly for vault rewards. The combination gets you to ilvl 272+ fastest.

Can I gear entirely through delves?

No. Delves cap at ilvl 259. Heroic raid and high M+ (10+) are required to reach ilvl 272+. Delves are excellent for filling small gaps and casual players, not for endgame progression.

How many crests do I get per week?

Crests are capped at 100 per type per week. You earn them from dungeons, raids, and M+ completions. Hero crests are rarer. Myth crests are rarest. Budget your upgrades accordingly. Don't waste them on pieces you'll replace soon.
