Midnight Dungeons Overview: All Dungeons for Season 1 & 2

The Midnight expansion brings a fresh wave of dungeons to World of Warcraft. This guide covers all dungeons available across Season 1 and Season 2, including new additions, returning legacy content, and the M+ rotation changes.

Season 1 Dungeons

Season 1 launched with eight brand-new dungeons from the Midnight expansion. These dungeons offer a mix of mechanical challenges, environmental hazards, and thematic encounters.

New Dungeons (Midnight Expansion)

  • Altar of Fangs - A corrupted temple with 3 bosses and heavy ritual-based mechanics. Opens at patch launch on Normal/Heroic.
  • Den of Nalorakk - A troll-infested cavern featuring coordinated pack mechanics and environmental traps.
  • The Blinding Vale - A dangerous canyon with visibility-impaired encounters and terrain-based strategies.
  • Voidscar Arena - An arena invaded by void entities, requiring tight positioning and focus fire.
  • Murder Row - A dark guild hideout with assassination-themed mechanics and stealthy encounters.
  • Maisara Caverns - Crystal-filled caverns with echo effects and resonance-based mechanics.
  • Magisters' Terrace - An arcane sanctum with spell interrupts and mana drain mechanics.
  • Additional Season 1 Dungeons - Includes Nexus-Point Xenas, Windrunner Spire, and more thematic encounters.

Season 2 Dungeon Changes

Season 2 brings significant rotation changes to Mythic+. One new Midnight dungeon joins the rotation, two additional Midnight dungeons debut on the m+ circuit, and three legacy dungeons return from Battle for Azeroth and Dragonflight.

New to M+ in Season 2

Altar of Fangs marks its debut in Mythic+ dungeons one week after Season 2 patch launch. This three-boss encounter takes place on The Coiled Isle.

Bosses:

  • Rav'i - A corrupted troll warlord with ritual mechanics
  • The Writhing Coil - A tentacled horror with positioning challenges
  • Zul'jan - The final boss with phase transitions and summon mechanics

Murder Row also joins the M+ rotation for the first time in Season 2, bringing its assassination-themed encounters to mythic difficulty.

Season 2 M+ Dungeon Rotation

Eight dungeons comprise the active Mythic+ rotation for Season 2. This rotation spans three expansions and balances new content with returning favorites.

King's Rest (Battle for Azeroth)

A regal troll stronghold featuring tight corridors and heavy area-of-effect damage from ambient effects. Players must manage add packs and stay mobile through narrow passages. Expect coordinated group movement and interrupt rotations.

Temple of Sethraliss (Battle for Azeroth)

An ancient snake temple with interrupt-heavy mechanics across most encounters. Trash packs hit hard and require constant focus fire. Interrupting priority casts is essential for smooth progression. This dungeon rewards teams with strong crowd control and interrupt coordination.

Ruby Life Pools (Dragonflight)

A familiar return for veterans of Dragonflight, featuring dragon-themed encounters and nature-based mechanics. This relatively straightforward dungeon serves as a solid entry point for gearing and familiarization with Season 2 pull patterns.

Season 1 vs Season 2 Strategy

Season 2 introduces significant rotation shifts. Teams invested in Season 1 dungeons should begin practicing the three new entries immediately. Returning legacy dungeons offer accessibility for gear progression, while the three Midnight dungeons continue to provide the highest item-level rewards.

For best results, study rotation changes early and practice mythic+ strategies for Altar of Fangs and Murder Row before peak mythic push weeks.

Resources for Dungeon Mastery

Midnight Mythic+ Comprehensive Guide covers all M+ mechanics, affixes, and strategy. Altar of Fangs Dungeon Guide provides detailed boss breakdowns and encounter strategies for the Season 2 debut dungeon.
