For the first time in WoW history, every warband gets a permanent home. This isn't like Garrisons or Covenants that fade away each expansion. Player Housing in Midnight is here to stay, evolving alongside WoW for years to come.
Your home is a fully customizable sanctuary. Decorate the exterior, fill the interior with furniture, and design spaces that reflect your character. It's part cosmetic showcase, part bragging rights. The rarest decorations come from cutting-edge raids and competitive PvP, so your house becomes a trophy case of your achievements.
Housing also ties into community. You can visit neighbors, participate in neighborhood events called Endeavors, and earn community rewards. It's a slow-burn, long-term progression system that gives you weekly goals beyond raids and dungeons.
How to Unlock Your House
The process is incredibly straightforward. Log in with any character on a warband that owns Midnight.
You automatically receive the quest "A House For You" at login. This introductory chain takes about 15 minutes and teaches you the basics: how to enter your home, place furniture, and customize rooms. No prerequisites, no reputation grinds, no hoops.
After the quest, you head to your faction's neighborhood and claim a plot using the Leasing Sign. The neighborhoods are phased instances with roughly 50 plots per faction, so you won't fight for housing real estate. Pick whichever plot appeals to you visually.
Each warband can own two houses: one in the Alliance neighborhood (Founder's Point) and one in the Horde neighborhood (Razorwind Shores). Any character in your warband can visit both houses, regardless of faction.
The initial purchase costs 10 million gold. After that, you own the plot for the expansion. No monthly fees, no upkeep. It's yours.
Customization Options
Housing gives you near-total control over your space. You get two modes: Basic and Advanced.
Basic Mode is drag-and-drop placement. Drop a piece of furniture anywhere and move it around freely. Most players use this for quick setup.
Advanced Mode is for perfectionists. Snap objects to grids, fine-tune positioning, and use height adjustment. If you want pixel-perfect symmetry, advanced mode is your friend.
You can customize:
Interior Rooms. Furnish multiple rooms inside your house. Add beds, tables, chairs, bookshelves, fireplaces, light fixtures. Paint walls with dyes. The sky's the limit.
Exterior Grounds. Build gardens, fence off sections, add pathways, place statues and monuments. Your yard is a blank canvas.
Visitor Permissions. Decide who can enter your interior vs. exterior. Toggle access for guild members, party members, friends, or just neighbors. Great for privacy if you want.
Dyes and Colors. Most furniture and decorations accept dyes. Recolor pieces to match your theme. You can achieve wildly different aesthetics with the same base items.
There's no size limit between interior and exterior. Your house expands as you unlock more decorations, and placement never becomes cramped or restrictive.
Housing Items from Gameplay
Decorations come from all corners of Midnight. Here's where to farm specific pieces:
Quest Rewards. Every zone quest chain awards cosmetic items. Run the main story in each zone and pick up housing drops along the way. Raid questlines give themed decor tied to raid aesthetics.
Raid & Dungeon Achievements. Defeating raid bosses and dungeon achievements unlock trophy pieces: plaques of defeated bosses, raid banners, themed statues. Mythic+ keys drop rare decor from high-tier clears.
Professions. All ten crafting professions (Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Cooking, Enchanting, Engineering, Herbalism, Leatherworking, Mining, Tailoring, Jewelcrafting) craft housing items. Engineers make mechanical pets and gadgets. Chefs craft tables and kitchen decor. Blacksmiths forge armor stands and weapon racks.
Reputation Vendors. Once you grind faction rep with zone vendors, they sell faction-themed pieces. Horde zones sell Horde banners and tribal aesthetics. Alliance zones sell Classic Alliance furniture.
Monthly Endeavors. Each neighborhood runs community Endeavors (think world quests for the whole zone). Complete them and earn Community Coupons, which buy the best cosmetic decor in the game. These change monthly, creating unique rotating inventory.
Prey System. Hunt difficult enemies called Prey scattered around Midnight. Defeating them drops trophies and mementos. The rarer Prey give the rarest trophies, so this is endgame decor farming.
Seasonal Events. Holidays and limited-time events (Brewfest, Love is in the Air, etc.) award temporary decor. Grab them during the event or miss them until next year.
PvP Content. Rated arena and battleground victories drop PvP-themed banners, weapons racks, and gladiator statues. High ratings unlock elite-only pieces.
Tips for Building Your Dream House
Start with a Theme. Decide your aesthetic before buying. Are you building a cozy cottage? A haunted manor? A barbarian lodge? Pick a direction and hunt decor that fits. Mismatched styles look chaotic.
Farm Professions Early. Profession decor is renewable and excellent. Level a couple of crafting professions to 100 and start crafting furniture for yourself. It's cheaper than buying from the auction house and gives you unique pieces.
Join Your Neighborhood Community. Participate in monthly Endeavors. The unique decor from Community Coupons is the best cosmetic stuff in the game. You'll unlock pieces that nobody else has if you stay active.
Display Your Achievements. Put raid trophies and PvP plaques in visible spots. Show off the hard content you've cleared. It's the ultimate flex.
Don't Rush Perfection. Housing is a long-term project. You'll farm decor for the entire expansion. Treat it as a slow-burn goal, not something to complete in a month. New decor sources appear constantly.
Visit Other Houses. Explore your neighborhood and check out what neighbors have built. Steal design ideas and get inspired. Some players create genuinely impressive spaces.

FAQ
Can I own housing on both factions?
Yes. Each warband can own one house in Founder's Point (Alliance) and one in Razorwind Shores (Horde). Any character can visit both, regardless of faction. You just need a character of the right faction to buy the initial plot.
What happens if I don't log in for a while?
Your house doesn't decay or get deleted. Unlike player-housing systems in other MMOs, WoW housing is permanent. Log in anytime and your house is still there, still decorated, still yours.
Can I change my house plot after buying?
You can relocate to a different plot in the same neighborhood, but you'll lose the old plot's claim. Moving is allowed but not encouraged. Most players stick with their first choice.
Do housing decorations bind to my character?
No. Decorations unlock for your warband account-wide. Unlock a trophy on one character, and you can use it on any character's house. This is the main advantage of housing being warband-wide.
