WoW Player Housing Guide: Setup, Blueprints & Patch 12.1 Updates
Player housing is one of Midnight's most engaging systems, offering personalization, wealth sinks, and passive rewards. This guide covers house setup, decoration strategies, and everything new in Patch 12.1: blueprints, pet beds, house level 12, the dye system overhaul, and four themed endeavors.
Player Housing Basics
Every character at level 60+ receives a basic house in their chosen zone. Housing serves multiple purposes: cosmetic customization, furniture collection, renown progression, and weekly gold rewards. Houses are personal instances accessed through portals in major cities.
Housing Zones
Each housing zone contains 1000 plots and ties thematically to its region. Choose between: Zul'Aman Trolls (lush jungle aesthetic), Coiled Isle Serpents (venom-themed), Ohn'ahran Centaurs (grassy plains), and Tortollan Swamps (aquatic decor focus).
Room Management
All houses begin with a main room, outdoor garden, and basement. You unlock additional rooms through progression and house leveling. Each room has specific decoration limits and floor space. Furniture items come from gameplay, crafting, vendors, and achievement rewards.
Furnishing Your House: Decor & Crafting
Furniture comes from three sources: purchased from housing vendors, crafted via Furniture Crafting (a sub-profession), or earned through quests and achievements. Each item has a placement cost (in gold) and occupies decor slots.
Decor Slots & Limits
Main rooms support 50 decoration slots. Outdoor gardens hold 40. Basements and extra rooms range from 20 to 35. Display racks, shelves, and counters help maximize visual space without hitting slot limits.
Crafting Furniture
Furniture Crafting is a specialization within Crafting professions. Recipes come from vendors, dungeon drops, and achievement unlocks. Popular crafting materials include Midnight Wood, Vibrant Shards, and Tremor Stone.

Patch 12.1 Housing Updates
Blueprints: Save & Share House Layouts
The blueprint system lets you save your entire house layout: furniture placement, room themes, outdoor decor, and interior design. Save up to 50 house blueprints plus 10 auto-save slots for backup.
Export blueprints as shareable codes and post them in chat. Players can load your layout into their house to try designs before committing to purchases. This enables community design sharing and inspires new decorators. Cross-region sharing works globally (except China).
Pet Beds: Place Companion Pets at Home
Noncombat pets now have designated beds inside your house. Place up to 10 indoor pet beds (pets can be stationary or roaming) and 5 outdoor beds (stationary only). Your favorite pets follow you through rooms or remain in one spot based on bed type.
Pet bed items drop from various sources and are craftable. Customizable pet furniture (beds, houses, toys) adds another layer to your housing experience.
House Level 12: Expanded Capacity
The level cap increases from 11 to 12. Level 12 houses unlock:
- 10% increase in decor slot limits per room
- New exterior expansion space (25% larger outdoor area)
- Entry door now placeable on any floor (instead of ground floor only)
- Additional storage containers and trophy displays
- New outdoor building types (vendor stalls, greenhouses)
Reaching Level 12 takes 4-6 weeks of consistent activity: placing furniture, completing housing quests, and daily challenges.
Dye System Overhaul: Simplified & Expanded
The old dye system required 72 individual bag slots for colors. Patch 12.1 consolidates dyes into 9 base categories (Primary, Secondary, Accent, Wood, Stone, Metal, Glass, Fabric, Special). Each category holds infinite colors via a dropdown menu at the dye station.
Fifteen new colors arrive in 12.1, plus existing dyes transfer automatically to the new system. Crafting dyes at the dye station no longer requires recipes. Select color, confirm, and craft immediately. Dye costs 50g per application per furniture piece.
New Endeavors (4 Themed Events)
Patch 12.1 adds four limited-time housing endeavor events, each themed to a different culture and offering exclusive furniture sets:
Knock-off Amani (Troll Theme): Replicate iconic Amani architecture and troll sculpture motifs. Earn Amani-inspired furniture: bone totems, tiki masks, tribal paintings, and carved wooden doors.
Candle Culture (Kobold Theme): Design a cozy underground gnome-inspired home with plenty of bioluminescent accents. Unlock spiked furniture, mining-themed decor, and glowing crystal displays.
Every Bakar Has Its Day (Ohn'ahran Centaur Theme): Build an outdoor centaur settlement with nomadic tent aesthetics, fire pits, and tribal markers. Earn centaur-specific furniture sets.
Vacation Season (Tortollan Theme): Create a tropical beach resort with beach lounges, umbrellas, water features, and hammocks. Exclusive Tortollan furniture reflects relaxation and resort vibes.
Each endeavor runs for 3 weeks with tiered rewards (complete 3 tasks = bronze, 6 = silver, 9 = gold). Gold-tier completions reward the full themed furniture set.
Season 2 M+ Dungeon Drops for Housing
Mythic+ Season 2 dungeons drop new housing items at higher keystones. Rare and Unique furniture pieces come from +15 and +20 keys. Popular drops include crystalline chandeliers, enchanted mirrors, and cursed furniture effects (like floating objects or animated paintings).
House Rewards & Passive Income
Weekly housing quests reward 1000g plus unique cosmetics. Placing high-quality furniture in specific rooms completes optional objectives for bonus gold (up to 500g extra weekly). Housing contributes to account-wide cosmetic unlocks and prestige perks.
Housing Market & Economics
Popular housing items appreciate in value on the auction house. Rare furniture pieces from past endeavors fetch 500g-2000g depending on rarity. Furniture crafters with high specializations can turn consistent profits by producing popular décor pieces weekly.
Limited-time endeavor furniture is highly sought; hoarding exclusive items before endeavor resets is a viable gold strategy.
