Druid Guide for WoW Forever
The only class that fills all four roles: tank, melee DPS, ranged DPS, and healer. Master Balance, Feral DPS, Bear tanking, and Restoration healing with rotations, stat priorities, and spec breakdowns.
What Changed for Druids in WoW Forever
Druids got major quality of life improvements and new tools that make each spec feel complete. Here's what shifted:
- Wild Growth Added: AoE HoT that hits 6 targets. Restoration now has baseline raid healing instead of tank-only patches.
- Survival Instincts (Bear): New defensive cooldown. Grants 30% of your max health as a shield for 8 seconds. Bear panic button that actually works.
- Cyclone Now Available: 6-second crowd control in both PvE and PvP. No diminishing returns with other forms of CC. Game changer for Feral and Restoration in arenas.
- Berserk (Feral): 15-second cooldown that gives 100% crit chance on combo-point generators (Shred, Mangle, Rake). Burst window for pushing insane damage. Start at full energy with Shifting Power ready and maximize Shred casts.
- Typhoon (Balance): Knockback AoE ability. Boomkins aren't helpless in multi-target situations anymore.
- Improved Shapeshifting: Shifting out of roots/snares is baseline now. No more getting rooted as a cat in PvP.
- Skyborne Druids: New race (both factions). Storm cat form, cloud bear, and zephyr bird forms. Wind Blessed passive grants 2% haste. Flavor and function combined.
- Eclipse (Balance talent): Rotation-defining talent. Alternating Wrath and Starfire casts proc Eclipse buffs that reduce cast times. Balance now has an actual rotation instead of Starfire spam.
- Shifting Power (Feral): New Level 30 ability. Converts mana to energy. Turns Feral from a 2-button rotation into a fully fleshed-out combo system. Changes how you manage resources completely.
- HoT Crits: HoT ticks can now critically strike (they could not in Classic). Crit is more valuable for Restoration than before.
- Consumables in Shapeshift: You can now use potions and consumables while shapeshifted. Major QoL for Cat and Bear forms.

WoW Forever Powerleveling 1-60
Druids can level any role. Or skip it and pick your spec at 60.
Best Races for Druid
Alliance
- Night Elf: Shadowmeld is clutch for PvP (break line of sight and heal out of combat). Extra dodge bonus scales on Bear tanks. Solid all-around.
- Worgen: Extra melee damage for Feral cat DPS. Decent utility.
Horde
- Tauren: War Stomp AoE stun is top tier for Bear threat on pack pulls. Extra stamina is passive survivability. Best Horde Druid pick.
- Troll: Damage buff with Berserking. Works for any spec.
Both Factions
- Skyborne: Wind Blessed passive grants 2% haste to all specs. Unique storm cat, cloud bear, and zephyr bird forms. Play the cosmetics if you want, but the haste is real.
Feral (Cat) DPS: The Melee Specialist
Feral cat is the highest skill ceiling melee DPS in WoW Forever. Powershifting (shifting out and back to reset energy) separates the good from the parsing gods. Rewards tight play with high damage output.
Feral Cat Playstyle
You're applying a bleed-based rotation with Rip and Rake, maintaining combo points, and using Ferocious Bite as your finisher. The power comes from knowing when to Mangle for extra damage, when to Shred versus maintain distance, and when to shift to reset energy for more actions per minute. It's a dance.
Feral Cat Rotation
Stat Priority for Feral Cat
| Priority | Stat | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Agility | Scales your auto-attacks, armor, and dodges. Everything. |
| 2 | Strength | Extra attack power for Mangle and Ferocious Bite hits. |
| 3 | Hit (9% cap) | Can't parse if you're missing. Cap this or you're throwing DPS. |
| 4 | Critical Strike | Crits on Rip and Shred scale hard. High parse ceiling. |
| 5 | Attack Power | Passive scaling on abilities. Dump excess here. |
Key Talents
- Mangle: Your combo point generator. Scales with crit.
- Shred: Alternative combo point generator for single-target burst.
- Rip: Bleed finisher. Scales with combo points and crit.
- Ferocious Bite: Combo finisher. Scales with attack power. Executes targets below health threshold.
- Savage Roar: Buff that must stay up. Increases damage output by 30%.
- Berserk: 15-second window of no energy costs. Your burst button.
- Rake: Bleed opener. Energy dump for movement filler.
Feral (Bear) Tank: The Wall
Bear tanks have the highest health pools of any tank spec in WoW Forever. You can't block or parry, but you stack armor and dodge so hard that nothing sticks to you. Magic damage fights are your kingdom.
Bear Playstyle
Maintain Mangle for the armor debuff on the boss, stack Lacerate to 5 layers for passive damage reflect, use Swipe to multi-target threat, and dump rage into Maul when you cap. Survival Instincts is your panic button for big mechanics. You're a health bar that walks.
Bear Rotation
Stat Priority for Bear
| Priority | Stat | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Stamina | Bigger health pool = survivability. Stack hard. |
| 2 | Armor | Reduces physical damage. Bears scale armor better than most tanks. |
| 3 | Dodge Rating | Avoidance = less damage taken = less healing needed. |
| 4 | Agility | Scales dodge and armor. Every point matters. |
| 5 | Defense | Survivability basement. Not a priority if you have dodge. |
Key Talents
- Mangle: Your main threat tool in Bear form. Armor debuff.
- Lacerate: Stacking armor buff for your group. Passive damage reflect at 5 stacks.
- Swipe: AoE threat on packs. Essential for dungeons.
- Maul: Rage dump. Extra damage when you're capped.
- Survival Instincts: Shield equal to 30% max health. Use before big mechanics.
- Frenzied Regeneration: Heal yourself. Scales with attack power.
- Enrage: Rage generation when you take damage. Passive scaling.
Balance (Moonkin) DPS: The Caster
Balance is the odd spec out. It's C-tier DPS but you bring a 5% spell crit aura that raiders want. Moonkin form shifts you into a ranged caster with Starfire spam and DoT maintenance.
Balance Playstyle
You enter Moonkin form and apply two DoTs (Moonfire and Insect Swarm), then spam Starfire as your main nuke. Ramp time is slow (DoTs tick damage slowly), mana management is a thing, but the 5% spell crit aura you provide is valuable in raids. Force of Nature summons treants as extra damage on cooldown.
Balance Rotation
Stat Priority for Balance
- Spell Damage: Your nuke scaling. All in.
- Hit (16% cap): Can't miss spells. This is non-negotiable.
- Critical Strike: Crit damage on Starfire is your burst.
- Intellect: Mana pool. More spellcasts.
- Spirit: Mana regeneration. Helps sustain longer fights.
Key Talents
- Moonfire: DoT opener. Apply early.
- Insect Swarm: Second DoT. Keep it rolling.
- Starfire: Your main nuke. Spam it.
- Wrath: Filler during movement or mana problems.
- Force of Nature: Summon treants. Extra damage on cooldown.
- Typhoon: AoE knockback. Utility and damage.
- Moonkin Aura: 5% spell crit to your raid. Why you're brought.
Restoration: The HoT Master
Restoration is the premier healer in WoW Forever. Lifebloom stacking, Rejuvenation rolling, Wild Growth for multi-target healing. You keep people alive while kiting with Travel Form and Cyclone in PvP.
Restoration Playstyle
Stack Lifebloom on your tank (blooms for big heals when the buff expires). Keep Rejuvenation rolling on damage targets. Use Wild Growth when your melee stack takes AoE. Swiftmend consumes a HoT and heals immediately. Innervate yourself or pass it to another healer for mana return. You're never out of mana with proper play.
Restoration Healing Rotation
Stat Priority for Restoration
- Healing Power: Scales all your heals. Direct stat.
- Spirit: Mana regeneration. More spellcasts = more healing.
- Intellect: Mana pool. Bigger pool = longer fight sustain.
- MP5: Passive mana regen. Backup to Spirit.
- Haste: Faster casts. Nice to have but not priority.
Key Talents
- Lifebloom: Tank healing staple. Bloom on expiry.
- Rejuvenation: HoT spread tool. Your filler heal.
- Wild Growth: AoE HoT. Hits 6 targets. Changed raiding.
- Regrowth: Direct heal + HoT. Emergency tool.
- Swiftmend: Consume a HoT for instant heal. Panic button.
- Innervate: Mana return. Mandatory talent. Cast on cooldown.
- Tree of Life: Form that boosts healing output. Use during intense healing phases.
- Cyclone: 6-second CC. PvP utility.
Leveling as a Druid: The Jack of All Trades
Druids level faster than Warriors but slower than pure DPS. The payoff is flexibility. You get Cat form at 20, Travel Form at 30, and can heal dungeons in any spec.
Leveling Tips
- Use Feral spec (cat form). Fastest solo leveling. Mangle > Rake > Shred rotation.
- Run dungeons whenever possible. You can heal any dungeon in cat or bear spec. DPS gear with Intellect works for healing.
- Stack food and water until 30. Before Travel Form you have downtime between pulls. Sustain yourself.
- Get Barkskin early. Defensive talent. Reduces damage taken by 20% during leveling rougher zones.
- Use Travel Form at 30. Fastest way to traverse the map. Mount farming is obsolete.
- Upgrade gear constantly. Leather is cheap on the auction house. Agility scales your cat form DPS.
- Don't neglect Intellect for healing dungeons. Healing scales with +healing gear, not cat gear. Swap pieces before dungeons.
- Avoid PvP servers while leveling. Undergeared Druids get rooted and burst down. You're not unkillable until 60.
Best Professions for Druid
- Leatherworking + Skinning: Craft leather gear for cat DPS. Scales Agility. Self-sufficient at every level. Mailbox profits from cheap hides.
- Herbalism + Alchemy: Potions and flasks. If you're raiding you need healing potions and mana potions. Alchemy is mandatory for hardcore content.
- Enchanting + Tailoring: Cloth from mobs, weave for gold. Enchanting lets you self-enchant your gear. Works if you have gold to burn on mats.
- Mining + Engineering: PvP utility items. Less gear scaling than Leatherworking but arena tricks are powerful.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I heal raids as a fresh Druid?
Yes, but prioritize Intellect and healing power gear immediately. Restoration scales hard with +healing stats. Lifebloom x3 plus Wild Growth covers most raid healing. Innervate on cooldown keeps mana stable. You're wanted in raids.
Is Feral cat or bear better for PvE raiding?
Cat for DPS (B-tier), Bear for tanking (A-tier). If you're pushing raid damage meters, cat is more mechanically involved. If you're needed for progression tanking, Bear has the HP pool and Survival Instincts to survive mechanics. Pick your role and commit.
How do I powershift correctly as Feral cat?
Shifting out of cat form and back in resets your energy to 25. Do this when your energy is low and you've got nothing to spend it on. Shift > shift back > continue rotation. It costs 0 rage/energy but costs a GCD. Weave it between Shreds to maximize actions per minute. Spacing matters.
Why would I pick Balance over other DPS specs?
You bring a 5% spell crit aura. That's it. Balance is C-tier DPS on its own, but if your raid is mage-heavy or has lots of casters, your aura carries value. Otherwise spec a different DPS. It's a luxury pick, not a need.
Can Druids tank in anything other than bear form?
No. Don't try cat or caster forms. You'll get the group killed. Bear is the only viable tank spec. It's got the armor scaling, Survival Instincts cooldown, and health pool to survive. Stay in bear or respec.
