Warrior Guide for WoW Forever
Master Arms, Fury, and Protection specs. Rotation breakdowns, stat priorities, and everything you need to pump as a Warrior.
What Changed for Warriors in WoW Forever
The stance system got a heavy overhaul. Swapping between Battle/Defensive/Berserker is no longer clunky or rage-starving. Here's what's new:
- Reworked Stance System: Faster transitions. No more standing there like an idiot waiting for the GCD. Stance-dancing in raids is actually viable now.
- Execute Buffed: Hits harder and the range was extended to 25% HP. More execute spam = more dps uptime.
- Whirlwind Cleave: Now hits significantly more targets. 8+ target AoE instead of 4. Changes multi-target priorities in dungeons and raids.
- Thunderclap No Longer Stance-Locked: You can cast it from any stance. Massive QoL change for threat management and dungeons.
- Victory Rush (New Ability): Heals you after killing an enemy. Massive leveling QoL, available at level 20. Keeps you moving between pulls without eating.
- Normalized Rage Generation: Rage generation no longer scales with weapon damage or speed. Crits still generate double rage. Changes gearing priorities at endgame.
- Expertise (New Stat): Reduces enemy dodge and parry chance. Soft cap 6.5%, hard cap 14%. Required for tanks and melee DPS alongside Hit.

Best Races for Warrior
Alliance
- Human: Sword Specialization (Str/damage buff) and Perception (detect stealth). King of PvP. Perception wins arena.
- Night Elf: Wisp dodge bonus gives extra mitigation for tanking. Shadowmeld is clutch for PvP escapes.
- Dwarf: Stoneform removes bleeds (anti-rogue tech in PvP). Gun racial isn't great for Warriors but Stoneform carries.
Horde
- Orc: Blood Fury cooldown is an immediate damage spike. Axe Specialization works if you dual-wield axes or 2-hand axe. Top tier for DPS.
- Undead: Will of the Forsaken breaks crowd control in PvP. Underrated for PvP Warriors who get kited hard.
- Tauren: War Stomp AoE stun. Huge for tanking threat on pulls. Extra stamina is passive survival.
Arms Warrior: The Raid Dominator
Arms is where Warriors peak for single-target DPS. This is your spec if you're pushing raid damage or going toe-to-toe in PvP.
Arms Playstyle
Arms Warriors are about applying bleeds and synergizing with procs. Mortal Strike is your finisher and it hits hard. Deep Wounds bleed damage stacks up fast on bosses. You'll spend most of your time managing rage between abilities and snapping off Overpowers when the enemy dodges.
Arms Rotation
Stat Priority for Arms
| Priority | Stat | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Hit Rating (8% cap) | Miss = zero damage. Cap this before anything else. |
| 2 | Expertise (6.5% soft cap) | New Forever stat. Reduces enemy dodge/parry. Required for consistent DPS. |
| 3 | Critical Strike | Crit damage on Mortal Strike and Deep Wounds is massive. |
| 4 | Strength | Direct damage scaling. Stack after hit/expertise caps. |
| 5 | Agility | Dodge chance = Overpower procs = damage windows. |
Key Talents
- Mortal Strike: Mandatory. This is your nuke.
- Deep Wounds: Passive bleed that scales with crit. Stacks up fast on raid bosses.
- Taste for Blood: Turns Overpower into free Mortal Strikes. Huge talent.
- Sudden Death: Execute procs off normal attacks below 20%. More execution windows.
- Unrelenting Assault: Extra attack power. Passive damage boost.
Fury Warrior: Dual-Wield Cleave
Fury trades single-target precision for raw multi-target damage. Dual-wield two weapons and lean into Whirlwind spam. Less technical than Arms but just as fun.
Fury Playstyle
Generate rage from auto-attacks (dual-wield = faster swings = more rage) and dump it into Bloodthirst and Whirlwind. The spec flows naturally once you hit 20+ rage. You're a blur of axes.
Fury Rotation
Stat Priority for Fury
- Strength: Raw damage. All-in on this.
- Hit (6% cap): Same rule. Can't miss.
- Critical Strike: Crit damage scales with dual-wield.
- Haste: Faster swings = more rage generation = more spellcasts.
- Stamina: Survival. Dump excess here.
Key Talents
- Bloodthirst: Your rage generator and nuke combined.
- Whirlwind: Cleave everything. The spec identity.
- Enrage: Boost to attack power when you hit 60 rage. Passive scaling.
- Rampage: Proc-based talent. Gives Execute procs without the execute condition.
- Dual Wield Specialization: Mandatory if you're dual-wielding.
Protection Warrior: Unbreakable Tank
Protection is one of the best tanks in WoW Forever. High mitigation, easy threat, and solid survivability. You're the wall that damage runs into.
Protection Playstyle
Stand in front. Maintain Sunder Armor on the boss (5 stacks = heavy armor debuff for the group). Use Shield Block when you see big damage coming. Threat rotations are simple enough to allow you to watch mechanics.
Protection Rotation
Stat Priority for Protection
| Priority | Stat | Why |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Defense (440 cap) | Hit the cap or bosses will crush you. No negotiation. |
| 2 | Stamina | Health pool = survival. Stack this hard. |
| 3 | Dodge | Avoidance = less healing needed. Efficient mitigation. |
| 4 | Parry | Same as dodge. Avoidance baseline. |
| 5 | Block | Converts damage to smaller amounts. Passive mitigation. |
Key Talents
- Shield Slam: Your main nuke. Threat generator.
- Revenge: Procs from blocks. Free damage and threat.
- Sunder Armor: 5-stack debuff. Mandatory for group DPS.
- Anticipation: +20 Defense rating (buffed in Forever). Makes hitting 440 Defense cap much easier.
- Last Stand: Cooldown that gives you +30% max health for 20 seconds. Panic button.
- Shield Wall: Reduces all damage taken by 60% for 10 seconds. Save this for big mechanics.
Leveling as a Warrior: The Slow Grind
Fair warning: Warriors level slower than most classes solo. You need downtime to eat and bandage between pulls. But in dungeons? You dominate.
Leveling Tips
- Use Arms spec. Single-target damage is better for leveling.
- 2-hand weapon priority. Damage per swing scales your abilities. Get the biggest two-hander you can equip.
- Quest in groups or dungeons if you can. Warriors are group carry machines. Let DPS zug and you sit in defensive stance.
- Pull one mob at a time. Pulling 3 mobs as a warrior = dead. You don't have heals.
- Stack food and bandages. You'll spend 30% of your time eating between fights.
- Upgrade gear constantly. More armor = less damage = less healing needed. Blacksmithing gear is huge if you have the profession.
- Avoid PvP servers while leveling. Undergeared Warriors can't escape gankers. Survival > honor.
Best Professions for Warrior
- Mining + Blacksmithing: Craft your own plate armor. Self-sufficiency = best gear at every level. Plate is expensive on the auction house.
- Mining + Engineering: Create PvP utility items (grenades, shield, teleporters). Slows work against kiting. Engineering is cracked for arena.
- Skinning + Leatherworking: Farm hides, craft leather gear to vendor or flip. Profit side-hustle. Not best for gear but good for gold.
- Alchemy + Herbalism: Potions and flasks. If you're raiding hardcore, you need Alchemy for elixirs. Skip Herbalism for pure profit (buy herbs).
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Arms or Fury better for raiding?
Arms wins. S-tier single-target damage. Fury is B-tier cleave. If your raid has fight-by-fight needs, Arms scales harder for execute phases and single bosses. Fury shines in trash pulls.
Can I tank dungeons in Arms or Fury?
No. Don't. You'll get the group killed. Protection is the only viable tanking spec. Warriors don't have the mitigation or tools to survive burst damage in other specs. Go Prot or go DPS.
How do I gear up fast as a new Warrior?
Run dungeons. Dungeon gear is the fast track. Combine that with purchased gear from vendors (if you have gold) or auction house deals. Once you hit raid level, start farming raids for drops. Do dailies for reputation discounts on pre-raid gear.
What's Expertise and do I need it?
Expertise is new in Forever. It reduces the chance enemies dodge or parry your attacks. Soft cap is 6.5%. For DPS, cap Hit first, then Expertise. For tanks, Expertise helps with consistent threat generation. Skip it while leveling, stack it at 60.
Should I level Mining + Blacksmithing or just buy gear?
Level both if you plan to stay. Blacksmithing saves thousands in gold across your leveling journey. If you're leveling an alt and have gold to burn, skip it. But for your main, Blacksmithing is the fastest gear investment.
