Den of Nalorakk Dungeon Guide - WoW Midnight Season 1 Mythic+
Den of Nalorakk Overview
The Den of Nalorakk sits beneath the Maisara Hills in Zul'Aman, a lush but dangerous troll-infested region. Nalorakk, wounded by past conflicts with Zul'jin and Malacrass, has withdrawn to his den to nurse his injuries and sleep. The Amani troll tribe now seeks reconciliation with their fallen loa, and your group must navigate his trials to prove the tribe's worthiness.
This three-boss dungeon features moderate trash density and relatively clean mechanics. Many encounters focus on resource management and strategic positioning rather than rapid target switching. Den of Nalorakk is more forgiving than Murder Row but offers solid challenges throughout.
In our runs, Den of Nalorakk feels like a good middle-ground dungeon. It teaches solid fundamentals without overwhelming inexperienced teams. The jungle setting and troll lore create an immersive atmosphere.
Boss 1: The Hoardmonger
The Hoardmonger is a grotesque troll obsessed with hoarding stolen supplies and resources. Greed drives his combat tactics as he defends his massive stockpiles with ferocity. Nalorakk's first trial requires you to defeat this merchant of avarice.
Key Mechanics
- Resourceful Measures: Empowers one of Hoardmonger's abilities at 90%, 60%, and 30% health. After each trigger, one of his basic attacks upgrades to a stronger version.
- Spoiled Supplies: At 100 energy, tosses supplies at all players dealing AoE damage and creating Rotten Mushrooms on the ground. These mushrooms are hazards you must avoid.
- Hearty Bellow: An upgraded ability that deals sonic damage to the group. Use defensives when this ability activates.
- Bonespike Slam: Creates bone spikes that emerge from the ground, dealing nature damage to anyone nearby. Move away from the spikes as they spawn.
- Overflowing Sack: Tosses more Rotten Mushrooms around the arena, creating additional movement hazards.
Tank Tips
Position Hoardmonger in the center so your group has room to move away from Spoiled Supplies and avoid the mushroom field. When Resourceful Measures triggers, anticipate the upgraded ability and adjust your defensives accordingly. Bonespike Slam demands active avoidance.
Healer Tips
Hearty Bellow creates group-wide damage spikes. Be ready with cooldowns when this ability fires. The fight itself isn't healing intensive, but these spikes require preparation. Watch your tank's health during Bonespike Slam if he's standing near a spike.
DPS Tips
Maintain steady damage and watch the floor. Rotten Mushrooms are slow-moving hazards that telegraph their positions clearly. Don't stand in old mushroom patches. When Bonespike Slam triggers, move away from the emerging spikes immediately. This fight is about uptime and avoiding unnecessary damage.
Boss 2: Sentinel of Winter
The Sentinel is a manifestation of winter itself, embodying the harshest frost and coldest winds. This encounter teaches mechanics around managing stacking debuffs and dealing with persistent environmental hazards. Nalorakk's second trial tests your endurance against unforgiving frozen elements.
Key Mechanics
- Raging Squalls: Wandering weather phenomena that move around the arena dealing frost damage. These persist throughout the fight and block safe areas. Avoid standing near them.
- Fractured Shivercore: Applies Winter's Shroud debuff to nearby players. This debuff stacks and increases frost damage taken. When stacks get high, the damage becomes significant.
- Eternal Winter: At 100 energy, the Sentinel coalesces a massive storm. This ability deals heavy damage and pushes all players back from the boss. Prepare defensives and position yourself where the knockback won't throw you into hazards.
- Glacial Torment: Assaults players with freezing temperatures, applying a stacking frost DoT for 16 seconds that grows in intensity every 2 seconds. Multiple Glacial Torments happening simultaneously can become lethal.
Tank Tips
Keep the Sentinel centered and don't back toward walls. When Eternal Winter triggers, use a defensive cooldown for the damage, then adjust positioning as the knockback lands. Watch Winter's Shroud stacks carefully. If your group is accumulating too many stacks, reposition further from the boss to reduce Shivercore applications.
Healer Tips
Winter's Shroud stacking creates escalating damage. Keep track of how many stacks your group has accumulated. When stacks get high, prepare powerful cooldowns for the next Eternal Winter or Glacial Torment. This fight requires proactive cooldown management rather than reactive healing.
DPS Tips
Maintain distance from Raging Squalls and Fractured Shivercore. Don't stack on each other during Glacial Torment as multiple people applying the debuff simultaneously makes the DoT worse. Spread loosely and let ranged DPS maintain maximum distance. Burn the boss aggressively to shorten the fight duration and reduce total damage taken.
Boss 3: Nalorakk, the Loa of War
Nalorakk himself emerges in a fitful battle-filled dream state. This is the climactic encounter where the loa tests your group's worthiness. The fight combines massive AoE damage with secondary target management and mechanic coordination.
Key Mechanics
- Fury of the War God: At 100 energy, Nalorakk slams down with immense force, dealing heavy damage and incapacitating a secondary target. This attack requires tank defensives and healer preparation.
- Echoes of Nalorakk: Summons echo-creatures that charge designated players. These adds spawn at the player's marked location and deal nature damage in a small radius. Each echo must be handled carefully.
- Echoing Maul: Marks specific players with a 4-second debuff. After the debuff expires, an Echo spawns at their last position and attacks the area. Positioning before the echo spawns is critical.
- Concussive Shock: Part of Fury of the War God, incapacitating specific players briefly. During incapacitation, those players can't move or dodge, making positioning before the attack crucial.
Tank Tips
Keep Nalorakk positioned so your marked players have room to move away and avoid echo spawns. When Fury of the War God triggers, your current target (usually the tank) takes massive damage. Use your strongest cooldown for this attack. Position yourself away from where echoes will spawn so you don't get surrounded.
Healer Tips
Fury of the War God is your biggest healing moment. Prepare major cooldowns for this attack. Watch Echoing Maul applications and anticipate where echoes will spawn. If multiple echoes cluster, your group takes clustered AoE damage that demands group healing. Prepare instant-cast heals for incapacitated players who can't run away.
DPS Tips
When you receive Echoing Maul, move away from your group before the debuff expires. This prevents the echo from spawning in the middle of your team. Maintain uptime on Nalorakk but dodge spawning echoes as they appear. When multiple echoes spawn, help burn them down quickly before returning to the boss. Maintain awareness of where teammates are positioned so you can avoid creating chain echoes.
Mythic+ Tips for Den of Nalorakk
Route and Pulls
Den of Nalorakk's linear layout makes routing straightforward. Pull trash methodically before each boss. The dungeon doesn't have complex skipping mechanics, so focus on executing each trash pack cleanly rather than pulling large groups.
The jungle setting features lots of forest mobs. Many packs include adds that spawn from nearby lairs. Be aware that pulling one pack might bring neighboring enemies into the fight. Plan your positioning accordingly.
Dangerous Pulls
Trash packs with multiple casters require interrupt coordination. The jungle mobs love casting crowd control and debuffs, so maintain a defensive posture. Don't get caught out of position when a runner spawn starts casting.
The pull right before Nalorakk includes his loa servants. These enemies hit reasonably hard and can overwhelm unprepared groups. Burn them down efficiently and don't let them stack mechanics.
Timer Tips
Den of Nalorakk offers a generous timer. You should be clearing the dungeon 2-3 minutes ahead of the requirement if your group executes cleanly. Focus on clean mechanics rather than rushing. Don't skip trash unless you're very geared. Maintain steady pacing and you'll clear comfortably.
In higher keys, the added affixes are usually more threatening than the timer. Execute mechanics precisely and the timer will take care of itself.

FAQ
What does Resourceful Measures do on Hoardmonger?
Every time it triggers at 90%, 60%, and 30%, it upgrades one of Hoardmonger's abilities to a stronger version. The upgraded abilities deal more damage and have enhanced effects. Watch for the upgrade notification and adjust your positioning accordingly. Use defensives when the upgraded ability fires.
How far should I spread during Sentinel of Winter for Glacial Torment?
Spread loosely at about 10-12 yards apart. You want enough distance so that multiple Glacial Torments don't overlap and stack faster than necessary. Stay within reasonable healing range but don't bunch up. When stacks get high, be ready to take a defensive cooldown.
How do I position for Echoing Maul on Nalorakk without standing in the wrong spot?
When you get marked with Echoing Maul, run away from your group immediately. After 4 seconds, the echo spawns at your location. By moving, you prevent the echo from spawning in the middle of the party. Run to an empty area of the arena, let the echo spawn, then rejoin the group. Simple positional awareness prevents cluster damage.
